QuoteGot it.  Thanks.  How do you keep your ipad from running out of batteries during long gigs?

I never worry about it - My iPad Air or iPad Mini  - I can Charge to 100% and then use it for 3-5 days before it needs a recharge

Not the case with my iPad 2  - that only runs 7 hours before it need a recharge.

Benefit of Running on Batteries is lower noise and no Ground Loop Hum - that can manifest as soon as you introduce a Powered USB Hub

So I use a large battery for all

* KMI SoftStep II ( Avoid the 1st generation SoftStep! with its radiated EMI EL Backlight - its a huge source of induced noise for guitars with single coils  ! )

No kidding! I always have to use my SoftStep without the light on. :( Is this problem solved with the II?!?

Im thinking about trying a FTP Strat with the Kenton unit for live performance.
I think the GR-55 can not act as a sound module and Id like to know if anyone has suggestions for an external rompler that would be compatible and sound good.
Will my GR-20 work?
Thanks for any help.

Yes - thats the main "fix" in the latest KMI SoftStep model

Thanks for the link.
I assume I will need to run a wireless rig from the FTP Strats 1/4 output jack to to use the normal pickups or is that incorrect?

I just use my normal guitar cable.

All wireless Guitar systems have issues.

They "compress/compand" ( to achieve higher signal to noise ratio) or exhibit perceptible latency.
( yes even the Line6 has latency delay)

There is zero audio path occurring in the FTP hardware

jshortz

I must be missing something.
How would I get the sound of my normal pickups and still be totally wireless with the FTP Strat using the Kenton and a rompler?
Also there is no 3 way mix selector switch built into the guitar from what Ive seen.Only on the external unit.

I have a G50.
I have a Rocktron Midi Xchange.
I guess the rest would be the FTP Strat,a good rompler, the Kenton and I would use the 2 channels in my TS112A.
One channel for the rompler and the other for the normal pickups.
Sounds easy enough but will it work?
I will need an expression pedal for the rompler.

Im also thinking Roland XV-2020 however once the midi in is used from the Kemper there is no input for a midi controller pedal like my Rocktron.
That could be a problem for changing patches.

Elantric

jshortz

Would that be a 2 out or 4 out?
Still have the exp pedal issue with the XV-2020 but I guess that can go between the XV out and the Alto input.

Most use a 4 port MIDI THRU box, (more versatile Allows MIDI Control of more gear from one MIDI Control source.

Been playing more with my iConnectMidi 4+

Just want to point out, my iConnectMidi 4+( along with my 3 year old 1st gen Black iConnectMIDI both work 100% with the Fishman Tripleplay USB Receiver to send MIDI data to external hardware synths - as well as working as USB Class Compliant MIDI interfaces for IOS/ANDROID/WIN/OSX.

iConnectMIDI 4+, along with  my old  1st gen Black iConnectMIDI are both recognized and work with my new iPhone 6 Plus under IOS 8.1.2

Both iConnectMidi 4+, and 1st gen iConnectMIDI work as "USB Host to MIDI" hardware converters  - even lets my Line6  FBV Shortboard MKII control my IOS Apps - like Jamup Pro and Yonac ToneStack and let my Fishman Tripleplay drive lots of gear and IOS Synths

One important thing to remember - you must update the Fishman Tripleplay to latest firmware using a PC/Mac - and perform the necessary FTP Controller / FTP Receiver Wireless "Pairing" procedure BEFORE you try to connect FTP to iConnectMIDI

jshortz

Thanks for the info.
I guess this works as well as the Kenton just with more features.
Is that correct?

jshortz

That's great.

I assume I would need to do this to be wireless live.
Is it an easy procedure?
Thanks

With all my Gear I always

1)  Read the Manual

2)  Update to the latest  Firmware

3) Install all the official apps and follow along with the owners manual  -  Exploring all the features and follow the official work flow operational "paradigm" - and get comfortable that the product actually works

Only after I have accomplished all three things above - that's when I pursue alternate creative ways to use the tool

Observe the very minor mention on the official Fishman site that the Tripleplay actually works with iPad  / iPhone

Yes it will - but you must spend time with the unit  - so perform steps 1,2,3 above first

Still I wonder how many Tripleplay Owners returned the unit  - thinking it must be broken, because right out of the box it did not work with their iPad or iConnectMIDI Host to MIDI adapter - because they  had not even taken time to read the FTP Owners Manual, or understand the important chapter on "How to Pair your Fishman Tripleplay  Transmitter/ Receiver's wireless connection" ,"How to update the Firmware in  your Fishman Tripleplay  Transmitter/ Receiver"

RTFM!

Spider

Use this (Kenton/iConnectMIDI4+/Floor Controller or even Arduino Host http://cyfrowogitarowo.pl/archiwa/124) + FTP + Blofeld SL.

TriplePlay and iOS Apps

Published on Jul 11, 2014
Using your TriplePlay with any device that accepts MIDI input, such as an iPad or even an iPhone, allows you to compose, perform, and record anytime, and anywhere. Plus, you can do it all wirelessly! In this new YouTube video, we run through a few of the common settings and parameters you might need to adjust within each app to insure the best possible performance from your TriplePlay. The synths and instruments available at Apple's app store, for instance, can range from free downloads, to professional quality synths for around $10, on up to full-featured applications for the power user.
Once the apps of your choice are downloaded and installed, simply connect the TriplePlay receiver to your iPad via a USB adaptor. Apple sells the following (depending on the model of your iOS device), but there are plenty of 3rd party manufacturers with less expensive options:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD821ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A/apple-ipad-camera-connection-kit
In most cases, TriplePlay will "simply work" with whatever synth app you are running in a plug-and-play manner. However, there are certain parameters that many of these apps share that can be quickly adjusted, and oftentimes make dramatic differences in the quality of the experience. The trick is knowing what to look for, and where...

Señor Elantric,

Is there a way to change sensitivity settings for the triple play when using an iPad?  Do I do that via the software on my Mac and then save it for using the iPad?  Pardon my ignorance?

Thanks for anything,
Dave

No

I have the full FTP software suite installed on a 2012 Apple iMac 27" running OSX10.9.5, and I use that to adjust my FTP sensitivity

I wonder if FTP will ever be able to work without the dongle? The very cool Livid Guitar Wing  originally shipped with a wireless dongle. Livid later updated the firmware to allow it to speak directly to the computers Bluetooth hardware, eliminating the need for the dongle.

Dear great minds of the VGuitar Forum,
I've been an AXON user for years. Using 2009 Gateway Windows Vista/Motif rackXS/ both Piezo and magnetic hexaphonic equipped guitars. Works OK. I would like to get into the FTP. I'd like to leave it as Elantric recommends i.e. with the original firmware i.e. /left-right buttons to turn on/off pitch bend. When it arrives will it come like this? i.e. with original firmware.  Second, I have a motif rack XS unit I'll want to use and I understand I shouldn't need a laptop for this. Only an Iconnect midi+4 I think should work. But I don't understand, in this case where is the FTP software to be downloaded? Or is there no downloading in this case?  Lastly if I do upgrade to a high end laptop I'm seeing buys for a high end ASUS "gaming" i7/quad core gaming units with 16 gigs of RAM/ 17" screens running Windows eight. Is this the sort of (Never used a MAC) machine that would satisfy. These are my main questions right now. One more thing comes to mind. I'm thinking of putting the FTP on an Epiphone Lucille which as you know is a semi hollow body electric and the body is likely slightly radiused where the FTP would go. Any thoughts on that. Maybe it would just be better to put the FTP on another guitar. Thanks so much for any and all advice.

I have mine on a Parker Fly. The body is very slightly curved. After a few months one end of the pick up mount has pealed off and pops up due to the curvature. I have not fixed the problem yet, but it should be easy enough to put a plastic shim under one end of the mount with some double sided tape to build up that side and level out the mount. So just plan to take a bit more care with your initial installation than slapping it on in a hurry like I did.

That sound like plenty of computer for a music rig and overkill when it comes to graphics. But overkill never a problem :) Just make sure you are happy with the size of the computer. Those gaming rigs tend to be larger and heavier than average laptops.
