Hi all,

As I slowly get back into home recording, I'm blowing the dust off my VG-99 and recently reinstalled the VG-99 editor (which I downloaded off the Roland Website) onto my PC (a Sweetwater music PC running Windows 7). However, when I load up the software, I get the dreaded "MIDI devices aren't set up. Make sure the settings in the 'Set up MIDI Devices' dialog box" message.

I saw a post here on resetting the VG-99 to its original factory condition, as per page 100 in the VG-99 manual, but I'm not sure which settings to reset to resolve this error. The choices that page of the VG-99 offers are:

  • ALL
  • SYSTEM
  • GK SETTING
  • GLOBAL
  • PATCH
  • FAVORITE SETTINGS
Which one should I try? Or is there another way to resolve this error?

Thanks,

Ed

It is your computer setting that has to be set, not the VG. If I am not mistaken.  ;)

SET UP MIDI DEVICE is in the EDITOR menu under SETUP and the VG has to be on and connected to the PC.

Thanks -- seems to be working now!  :)
Good! It has been so long since I messed with that I was not sure I could remember what to do.
