Hi,

Thinks always happen when stores are closing and you live too far from them to get there on time...
The little plastic tip that unlocks the 13 pin cable has gone. The cable came with VG99 in 2011..
In your experience:

Using it this way will expose VG99 or GK2 to electrical problems of any kind?
Can I use it safely?
As a fix what comes to my mind is a very tiny drop of glue or silicon.. is it the right way?

Along the week I'll buy another one but I'd like to play a little tomorrow...

Thanks in advance,
Best Regards
Paolo

Hi pasha,

The only thing that the 'button' does is to allow you to depress the locking pawl on the plug so that you can disengage it from a jack (whether that be in your guitar or the VG99)..

..I think the reply above was meant to suggest that it would be easier to use the 'working' plug in your guitar because that would be easier to remove...while the 'broken' one could either:

Stay connected to your VG99 in the interim,

or

Be disengaged from the VG99 by either pressing down the metal part of the locking pawl with some object like the end of a plastic pen (now that it can be accessed as the 'button' is missing), or in fact glueing the 'button' back as you initially suggested..

Thanks.
I have found three places around my home that sell those cables. 45 Euros and you're done. This one is the 3Mt version they sell the 5Mt one. Is this going to alter sound with some more noise?

Hi Paolo,

Yep... you'll get 2 metres more noise out of that!!!!

...just kidding... ;D

...as long as it's a good quality cable, you shouldn't have any problems.. ;)

Cheers,
Peter

Finally I have my old cable replaced. I got an original Roland 13Pin for 45 Euros. It's 5Mt long.
I would have imagined that the additional two meters were such a bonus. I can move around the house while playing more than before and find better spots to avoid my Normal PU to get noise. (Lace Sensors on a Strat Plus).
The connectors a little tight on the GK2a, less on the VG99 but I guess it's because they are new.

;D I'm very happy.

Thanks for help,
Paolo
