In Logic
Under the Logic Menu
Under Preferences
Select Audio
Select under Input and/or Output device VG-99
(for my own system I select a different output device)

Does that help?

While we're on the subject of DAW stuff.  Does anyone know how to connect the VG99 to Pro Tools 9?  Or is that just impossible?

You must use Protools version 9,10,11  And not the HD or LE versions
More here:

according to the Protools Hardware checker here -
http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/pro-tools-hardware-checker
yes the VG-99 is supported, but you will be restricted to 24 bit @ 44.1kHz recordings - the native resolution of the VG-99  If its a WinPC,  use the Roland VG-99 USB Driver, and set it to Advanced Mode to enable the ASIO driver mode required for Protools 9 on a WinPC.

QuotePro Tools 9 is unlike any previous version in having no proprietary hardware requirement, allowing use of the software with any interface. It can operate using the internal sound card of a PC via the ASIO driver and a Mac using Core Audio. Mac Core Audio also allows, for the first time, the use of aggregate devices, allowing the use of more than one interface at the same time. This can also be achieved on a PC by using the third party application ASIO4ALL. Pro Tools 9 also included a new keyboard shortcut for "New Playlist."[19]

But your mileage may vary -
QuoteI am having real problems with pro tools 9 - the whole thing is buggy as hell with audio glitches & everything, and the odd weird thing happening (like click track continuing to play after I press stop.)

and Read the Protools 9 Manual for the procedure to setup the Audio Interface.

Thanks a million, Elantric.  I've been using the Mbox2 Mini without a clue for a while.  Hopefully this will help.
