Alternatives drum rhythms synchronized with the gr-55 and RC-300?

Hello friends,
I have a gr-55 and RC-300 and am looking for a solution regarding the external rhythm synchronized, since the internal battery of the RC-300 is very limited.
I had a boss dr-880 but the dry sound of drum machines are very boring.
Currently use drum loops already pre-recorded in tracks, with the advantage of being more realistic and exciting the battery and electronics disadvantage of being limited to the time of the track.
Has anyone tried using an mp3 player or usb pen drive from gr-55 with complete audio tracks of drums to play parallel synchronized with the RC-300?
I tried, but could not separate the audio output of the guitar audio track of the pen drive.

edit:forgot to mention, for live use, without the use of laptop

edit2: I'm seriously thinking about using a rc-3 synchronized with the RC-300 and record drum loops in all the 99 seats. Or rc-30 with two dynamic drum loops in each. Does it work?

I use an Ipad mini with either drum jam, or loopy loaded with BFD, Stylus or other percussion loops. Works absolutely fantastic. I use to wonder why they dont make drum machines anymore. Now I know. The 300 must be the master but these apps sync perfectly and give you way more options.

What great news! What drum applications do you use? Does a ipod touch 4 also work well?

That sounds cool! If you don't mind, can you please explain how you're doing the audio and MIDI connections?

Also, is anybody doing this in the Android world? Is that a possibility as well?

Thanks,

At this hour  - Android remains with too high latency for "real time use" - compared to Apple IOS devices.

Most use an old hardware drum machine that can use MIDI Clock sync

Alesis SR-16
Roland DR-880
Zoom RT223

Thanks for the info, Elantric. Now, after ignoring them since they first appeared, I'm GASing for an iPad ... you never know when it will hit!

looper

I got an ipod and now need to know what to install it to have the synchronized drum loops with the RC-300.
Does anyone know tell?

Elantric

hopefully you mean "iPad"

many IOS drum apps have external MIDi sync

Need a IOS MIDI I/O adapter

I use Apple Camera Connection kit (which is "applespeak" for USB Host Adapter ) + a cheap USB to MIDI cable

Or
Behringer iStudio IS-202

ok, so besides the application, I will need an adapter to sync with the RC-300 via MIDI, right?

Correct-

In your case - from the RC-300 MIDI Out jack,  you would connect to the "MIDi IN" on a iPod Touch MIDI Adapter, like an iRig MIDI.

If you had an iPad you could use the following as your MIDI Adapter

MeritLine USB MIDI Interface Link Cable Adapter for Music Keyboard  SKU:  0009966-001

The USB end of above cable connects to your iPAd via a USB Host adapter

For older iPads  wirh 30 pin Dock- Apple CCK (Camera Connection Kit)

For latest iPads with Lighting port - Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter

Then launch an IOS Drum App on your iPAd that can sync to External MIDI  - like DM1
Download DM1 on the App Store:

Thanks for all the detailed information, Elantric. Is the MIDI I/O cable strictly in and out? Or can it also function as thru?

I'm wondering how to  sync both an iPad and GR55 to my RC300 ... for timing only.

looper

His explanation was very good, thank you.
I still do not know if I'll use the ipod 8gb just like pace, because I know that has a slower processor and can not overload it with heavy applications.
I want to wait for the launch of the iPod mini 2 to acquire it because its small size, for me it will be much more practical for live use.

Elantric

QuoteOr can it also function as thru?

That would depend on the IOS app you are running  - many do offer MIDi Thru.

There are other options - MIDI Bridge IOS app runs concurrently with many IOS Audio synth apps and can provide many additional MIDi routing solutions too.

And to drum tracks (wav files), is there any app that could sync with the RC-300?
The idea is to have several pads on an app that play an audio sampler rhythm (drum loops) and change to the pads sequentially according to the dynamics of the music. (intro, part1, part2, chorus, solo, final)
This would be perfect for me.

edit: does beatmaker2 would be the best solution? thanks
edit2: dm1 and impc approved

updating ...
I bought an iphone 4s, cable midi / usb, CCK, several apps (dm1, easybeats, drumjam, bt2) to sync with Loopy HD ... but I felt the same security as a pedal for live use.
So I had to revise my ideas about drum machines ...
I bought a dr-3 boss and with it on the floor, I created buttons to activate with your feet.
I have every dynamic intro, fill AB, C, mute, ptn, end. It was cool.
But believing in iOS, sold my rc-300 and VoiceLive Touch: (
Now I need again a loop pedal which synchronizes with the dr-3. Had thought between rc-505 boss and VoiceLive Touch 2 (40 seconds).
Any suggestions?

The gr-55, when in the middle of a midi chain, passes midi clock as if it were THRU, but not midi start or stop messages. Thus you shouldn't place a drum machine after a gr-55 in sucha chain, you'll find things won't start & stop in sync.
