Title: VG-99 - Problems with VG99 Editor
Post by: tightner on October 02, 2013, 07:41:07 AM
I've installed the editor, set midi device to 1, set it to 1 on the unit as well. (Win7 64bit)

It kind of works - I can change patches on the unit and see it change in the editor but if I try to change it in the editor it stays on the current patch and won't change. It's just acting weird - I have to keep using task manager to close the program and restart it, sometimes it will come up and I'll get a message "There is no driver installed on your system". I unplug the USBm reboot the program and it comes up and communicates again.

Now, when I finally get it to where it appears to be working, I import the SMF mid file and I see the name and settings in the editor and on the unit BUT the sound doesn't change from what was on the existing patch on the unit.

What am I doing wrong?

What kind of USB port are you connecting to?  The reason I ask is because I had major issues on my system when connecting through a USB 3 port (even though it's supposed to be backwards compatible)

Indeed - USB3 Ports prove to be problematic for most folks

Also be sure to read the VG-99 Editor Owners Manual

(this is hidden inside the zip file supplied by Roland, and very few people ever read it or know it exists.
