Thanks so much for listening and for the compliments.  Here are the patches I have written/modified on GR-55 for use with the group. Many are named for the songs they are used in - and contain swap voices on the control button. Ex.: LowDown switches to flute when control is on, then back to an E Piano.

Sounds great.  I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the .SVD extension, what opens up this file?

QuoteIf you perform a backup of the GR-55 to USB Thumb drive, and then  move the  USB drive from the GR-55 to a PC or Mac. the file extension is an *.SVD (not a video disk either) the file seems to contain firmware data instead of midi data..
because it has system/global data, and a complete user patch backup of both guitar mode and bass mode, so i guess there is no relation between the guitar and bass patches between the two modes.

So

1) Backup YOUR GR-55

2) Copy the supplied file "GR55.SVD"  (from here http://luckystiffs.net/GR55.SVD) and copy to a spare  / empty USB Thumb drive's root directory.

3) Perform a GR-55 Restore from Thumb Drive procedure. (See GR-55 Owners Manual page 72)
"Restoring GR-55 Settings from USB Memory (RESTORE)"

4) Be aware the above procedure WILL over write ALL your System and User Settings, and those may not be appropriate for your situation. That is why you MUST make a Full  backup of your GR-55 before you attempt any of this.

Be aware that if you want to completely backup your GR-55, use the USB stick to copy your system settings (including YOUR GK SETUPS), as the Librarian only copies patches, not system data.
Then load in the *.SVD backup with the patches you want to try, backup the patches with the librarian, then re-load your *.SVD system backup, back into the GR-55.
Then load in the patches from the librarian you want to try.

*.SVD files are not a good way to share patches, you get the entire GR-55 system, including the original users GK setup settings (which will not suit your setup).

Thanks for the reminder -
I forget that compared to the Roland VG-99 Librarian, the Roland GR-55 Librarian is fundamentally different and missing several features I'm accustomed to.

VG-99 Librarian has modes for saving / restoring:
* Patch
* System
* GK Setting
* Favorite Settings

All are missing in the GR-55 Librarian.

Does that VG editor work with the GR-55 too?  Didn't mean to cause a mess for anyone - I guess I'm a newbie to the patch sharing on this thing.  Is there a way to share patch banks? I'll read the manual....  doggone it.......  :-[

No the VG Editor does not work with the GR. There is the Floorboard GR editor available for download. Try a search for Gumtown's editor. Also read this thread. https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=4006.0

You will find that patches for one type of hardware are not the same or interchangable with other harware.
Only VG-99 patches work with other VG-99's and GR-55 patches work with other GR-55's.
Same goes for editor and librarian software, they are only designed for the one specific hardware (unless it's a line6 product).

Yeah, I thought that was what was going on with the .SVD file.  I'll pass on that.
