Is this your type Irig ?

I do not recommend ANY iPad guitar interfaces that employ a connection to the iPad's Headset 3.5mm TRRS connection. (like the one above)

These will always be constrained, compromised, and full of hiss and noise and periodic "pop" & "click" noise (no matter what manufacturer)  because they all feed the Hi-Z Guitar input into the iPad's Internal headset Mic preamp circuitry which was specifically designed to power external electret condenser microphones (as found on iPhone earbuds) , not High Impedance Instruments like Guitar pickups.

The periodic pop is due to a low voltage supply capacitor in the electret condenser microphone preamp which is being used in an unintended manner anytime a third party Guitar Interface is connected to the iPad Headset Jack.

I can only recommend Audio Interfaces that employ the iPad Dock port (30 pin or Lightning) and/or a USB Class compliant interfaces using the Apple USB Camera Connection Kit.

Here is the best Guitar interface for iPad I know today

Yes, its irig i use...

This is a bad investment :-[,
first of all I am happy with the IRIG, because noise is very small. but I am very disturbed by the sound of pops
So the pops sound appear from 3,5 jack irig plug into mic ipad, right?

If I play the guitar while to charge the ipad does this help eliminate the sound pops?

I have this item: camera connection kit
http://shopping.rediff.com/product/5-in-1-camera-connection-kit--card-reader-with-usb-slot-for-apple-ipad1-2-3/11676668

Can i still use irig with camera connection like that?

Thx for response

Correct! And FWIW - all the following Guitar interfaces for iPad will also suffer periodic pops and clicks and Hiss when using IOS Amp Sims
Peavey Ampkit Link
iRig
iRig Stomp
ILoud
Roland Cube GX

QuoteIf I play the guitar while to charge the ipad does this help eliminate the sound pops?
No

Quoteis there a usb jack to 1/4 jack?

Yes - all the following work with Apple CCK (Camera Connection Kit)
But these are 16 bit Audio and still have hiss

I can only  recommend 24bit iPad guitar interfaces below which are immune from pops and clicks  - (as they never touch the iPad's noisy Headset Mic preamp.)

iRig HD

iRig Pro

Peavey AmpKit Link HD

Apogee Jam

No -

I recommend a new 24 bit guitar interface

And know that most iPad owners discover this generic non Apple Camera Connection Kit works poorly or not at all

Thx you for great answer

I using apple camera connector original (I just gave an example at random images take on the web) ;D

So if i have apple camera connector + this (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/behringer-guitar-link-ucg102-usb-interface#productDetail)... It will work. Without pop and click sound?

I have limited $$

ipad that I used was a gift from brother, and boss gt 10 is My church property hehehe

However - since IOS5 operating system - you will now be required to insert a powered USB Hub in between the Behringer Guitar Link UCG102 USB Interface  and the Apple CCK.

Oh sorry one question again...actually 3 :P

24 bit guitar interface which is the most inexpensive??

whether griffin which is a product of positive grid also produces pop and click?

If guitar interface plugged into the mic hole ( apple), and there are additional features of the battery (in guitar interface) whether avoid pop sound?

Elantric

Quote24 bit guitar interface which is the most inexpensive??

Probably Apogee Jam - old version $99

A good mix of features is the iRig Pro - which has 24 bits and 5pin MIDI Input - I got mine for $140.

But I got my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 on Ebay for $143, and then you can use a $20 Pluggable 4 port Powered USB Hub or Belkin Powered USB Hub - all are listed here:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=10326.0

For lowest noise use 100% Battery power - using the procedure detailed at the post below.

Use Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 + Fishman Tripleplay with iPad on Battery Power

That describes the Peavey Ampkit Link. Its been discontinued because most are dead on arrival or noisy. I have two and both are not worth pursuing

Yes  - this interface suffers periodic "pop"s too. As I said ALL Guitar Interfaces that connect to the Headset Jack on iPad are all junk / not worth buying - as they all must pass audio through the noisy iPad Mic Pre circuit which was never designed for guitar

Hai
1. how to delete a preset in jamup pro / emptying reuse presets are there?
2. whether the jamup pro integrated with garage band or just bias amp?
3. is there the same application with an integrated garage bands with jamup pro (no need to purchase in-app again)?

does not matter if it's a paid application as long as it has a better quality than a garage band, but of course that is integrated with jamup pro. (no need to purchase in-app again)?

Use MIDI CC# to set Stompbox mode in Jamup Pro - How?

I'm trying to use Jamup Pro  - but despite all attempts  - I can not activate remote MIDI control of Jamup Pro's Stomp FX in each patch.
This is supposed to be a feature of Jamup Pro - on many forums when i inquire about the steps other employ to accomplish this - I'm told "it just works"

Well - here in my world its broken -
Yes I can use MIDI  to change Jamup pro's Patches (see video above that shows this working for another user) - but despite all my attempts I can not use MIDI to enable / disable the Stompboxes in jam-up pro - the does not work

online help for Jamup pro
http://www.positivegrid.com/jamup-help/

I have a few MIDI pedals that can send MIDI CC# data  - but only see the iPad screen "flash" briefly when i send MIDI CC# command to Jamup Pro.

I know we have several members here at Vguitarforums who do use Jamu Pro -

Can anyone teach me how to use  MIDI CC# remote control  for Stompbox FX  on/off in  Jamup Pro?

The only iso I have found is here
- but its still not working for me

http://www.musicappblog.com/irig-blueboard-review/

Quote JamUp Pro XT does have MIDI functionality built in though so I spent a little while experimenting with that combination to see how it might work.
jamup midi control on 300x225 iRig BlueBoard review – wireless MIDI pedalboard controller for iOS from IK Multimedia
After you turn on the MIDI control option in JamUp Pro, the BlueBoard worked well for preset/bank selection.
Used in program change mode, once I'd turned on the 'Enable MIDI Control' settings within JamUp's Settings menu options, JamUP Pro worked without any further fuss. I was able to switch between the four presets that make up a JamUp Pro preset bank and also able to switch between banks using the '3 second hold' on the BlueBoard's A and B switches in exactly the same way as with Amplitube.
Things were less straightforward when I switched the BlueBoard to control change mode. JamUp Pro includes a MIDI Assigments screen where you can specify the CC numbers for various effects. This includes the ability to toggle on/off the various effects slots (for example, you ought to be able to toggle off the 'stomp' effect). However, despite spending a considerable amount of time trying, I couldn't actually get anything sensible to happen in this mode. JamUp Pro was obviously receiving some MIDI data but didn't really seem to be interpreting it in quite the way I expected. I'm not sure where the problem lies here but it would be nice to think that it could be resolved. While I couldn't test this, it would also be nice to know whether you could get any MIDI expression pedals connected to the BlueBoard to work with JamUp Pro. That would be great for controlling the Cry Baby or Pitch Shifter effects. If I can blag a loan of a suitable pedal from a friend I'll test this and post an update.

I suspect this is still a "bug" in that hopefully will be addressed in a future version of Jam Up Pro.

To be honest - i have been using  Amplutube ( I own all the add ons - just got the Orange Amp Bundle) - and using my iRig Pro,+ BlueBoard+ a pair of MAudio Expressions pedals  - yields a very lightweight workable guitar rig and i can change patches using the BlueBoard Bank Up/Down functions, and still select on/off status of 4 Stomp FX in each patch remotely  - And maybe its my ears are changing But I find lots of useable tones and lots of functionality (and fewer bugs) in my IK Multimedia Hardware / Software at this time - thanks to all the updates in the past few months. Blueboard is working better than it did last December!

Hi Elantric,

I don't think I can be much help but I just tried what you are having trouble with and it works fine for me.  My setup is:

FC-300 in control mode midi out to / iRig Pro midi in to / iPod touch running Jamup Pro

I just tested the midi learn to toggle filter, stomp, and delay on and off and Jamup displays the FC CC# it is assigning to each toggle and yeah, it just works.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I wish there was a video.
I'm having a big "disconnect"  on following all the exact steps to make this work here at my end.
been trying for months and zero progress.
All I get is a brief flicker on my Ipad screen during each MIDI CC transmission from my MIDI Foot controller.

I don't see any documentation in the current online help manual.

All I am doing is:

Settings / enable midi control ON / midi control assignments / toggle stomp effect / midi learn

After touching midi learn there is a pop up that says "waiting for midi CC".  Press the FC footswitch and "CC XX" detected appears.

You have probably already tried:

Deleting and re installing the Jamup app
Another midi controller and cable and interface
Cleaned cable contacts
Reinstalling the OS on your iPad

Thank You - I have never seen these type message boxes before  - will try and see if it works.

Its a pain when companies just post a "quick start" guide on line - then leave out  all the specific details on how to performs specific detailed functions in their User manual.

Where do you learn how to do this?

Steve, are you attempting this using the blueboard?  I've had the same experience and basically wrote it off as a shortcoming of the blueboard (or more specifically the background app that translates the blueboard's Bluetooth messages.)  I think jam up is "jamming up" because it's seeing both a cc on and a cc off message with each button press. It can't be configured to ignore one or the other, and the blueboard can't be configured as specifically toggle or momentary or whatever. Ergo the blueboard is near worthless in anything other than IK's own apps.

(Note that bbob is using an fc300 instead.)

Hope I'm wrong about this...  :-\

Yes - spent most time with Blueboard and Jamup Pro - thanks for the detailed info  - I suspect you are right  - need to sniff the Blueboard MIDI data stream and compare whats getting clobbered.

It gets frustrating when I read other folks who claim Blueboard is working to control Jamup Pro's Stomp box FX on Off with BlueBoard on the Bias Users Face Book page

I'm using several different Midi Foot controllers - with random results.

Its strange that the IK Multimedia gear  / hardware / software just works for me - meanwhile its struggle to make the Positive Grid software work (beyond basic patch change)  with any MIDI remote controller.

Plus my ears are getting weary of the "Mono Only"  Positive Grid FX .

And I still think the integration of Bias+ Jamup Pro is just plain sloppy. I would pay for "Jamup Pro Deluxe" with all the Bias Amps included - so i dont have to go dizzy editing both apps at once and  zero productivity.

As  far as I can see  - There is no Remote MIDI control in Bias, and if you launch Jamup Pro XT from Bias - your wonderful Bias amp tone goes south and never returns, then when you start trying to edit your overall tone with FX and try to integrate Live performance control- its a cat chasing its tail in circular redundant non productive waste of time - just feels "buggy" too me.

If you have  side by side shoot out of Bias/JamupXT vs Latest Amplitube with all the add ons - frankly I'm far more productive after 4 hours using Amplitube + Irig Pro+ BlueBoard + a pair of M-Audi of Expression Pedals

- but that might be a result of how my brain is wired and my own impatience with poorly documented music apps.

I'm probably the only guy on earth left who actually enjoys reading 300 page Manuals that document every last details of operation - (maybe a result of 3 years reading Roland VS-880 Manuals 18 years ago! ;)

And call me dumb - but I still have not managed to figured out how to remote control my Kempers Stomp FX remotely with a MIDI controller - even using an FCB-1010 with UNNO4KEMPER ROM. Should be pure plug and play - but theres always some "secret handshake" (like "Hold these two buttons down during  power up") required that I'm just missing. ( Yea Right - Try to explain that to you Roadie!)
http://www.uno4kemper.com/UnOforKemper_manual_1_3.pdf

Recently I spent a few hours using an old Digitech GNX-3000 + one USB Cable+ iPad(+CCK) running Meteor Mutltrack Daw - and had better sounds , Lower Latency for my needs than I get with Bias - coupled with an iPad its 24 bit/ low latency Incredible versatile rig - just need to replace the funky internal momentary switches that have failed on most used GNX3000 you find today.

Just poking around the app.  Definitely not from the manual.

I feel your frustration...It took me about a month to figure out how to have more than one Jamup effect from a single category.  Positive Grid support e-mail responses to my questions were prompt but had about as much info as the manual.

Anyway, after you enable midi control, then go to midi control assignments, select the effect type, then select Midi learn, you should see the "Waiting for MIDI CC" pop up as shown in the screen shot below.  After pressing the midi controller pedal you should see the "CC XX detected" pop up as shown below.

Wish I could be more help.
