This is my Schecter C1 with the GK Mounting Plate. It is pricy but is the best way to mount a GK-3 to a guitar with Floyd Rose floating bridge.  Now I take to gig's my Roland ready strat and the C1. Happy with my pricy investment,

$48 USD plus $8 shipping?   ???

The pics in the auction are horrible as well. $60 for this is just silly. He's more than paid for his initial investment. Another mentioned plastic would work too! I am tweaking a version of this with a little easier way to tweak the pickup height. Maybe $30 domestically, but $60? I'm usually valuing my time, but this is just gouging at its finest!
Setup:
Homemade EVH Frankenstrat with built in GK3

TC Helicon Voicetone C1

I recently used one of these Ebay GK-3 Mounting Plates to install a GK-3 on my JTV-69.

Very cool that Zero Holes or any other modifications are required using this plate to install the GK-3 on the guitar. Makes this totally reversible!

I did have to tweak the plate size with a bit with a grinder to make it fit the JTV-69 . Its made of Stainless Steel and very tough!
and repetitive instal / remove / install while sorting out the correct GK-3 PU height scuffed the black paint off the pickup a tad - but a black Sharpie marking pen will fix that.

I have attached the the GK- Plate PU installation instructions as a PDF

Hi,
Roland recommend a maximum distance of 20 mm between the GK3 pickup and the saddle. The distance seems larger than that on you Variax. Right ? What's maximum distance you have between the GK3 pickup and "furthest" saddle ? Thanks for your help.

My Gk-3 on my Tyler Variax JTV-69 sits approximately 25 mm away from the bridge saddle  - which is 5mm further away than Roland Recommends.

This was a result of using the Ebay GK mounting plate from the UK - AFTER MUCH modifications to make it fit the Tyler Variax JTV-69 with the #1 goals to have a 100% reversible GK-3 installation.

When I get more free time, I intend to re-fabricate a new mounting plate for the Tyler Variax JTV-69 which places the Gk-3 a bit closer to the Bridge.

The 20mm max GK Distance PU placement requirement is intended to diminish adjacent string to string cross-talk as a result of extreme string bending. When using my Tyler Variax JTV-69, I set both my GR-55 and VG-99 Gk Distance Setting to the max 20mm setting, and experience good tracking and no anomalies - but this might be due to my aggressive playing style, and attention to GR-55 Nuance settings - all described here:

On this topic, I recently found these ones - not sure what they are made of, but appears to be US based and maybe a cheaper alternative (for the US folks) to the UK version:

Cheers for that - didn't know they were plastic ... I also suspect the eBay ones are designed to "replace" your pickup ring whereas the Guitar Vault version are designed to go "under" the pickup ring, but more from the look of the design than anything else :)

I posted this in the "Show us your Triple Play Guitars" thread, and will soon be modifying it to accommodate the GK3 PU -- I've ordered a GP-10S + GK3 Internal Pickup Kit.

It's composed of 3 laser cut 2 mm thick stainless steel plates. The guitar's PU bracket screws and springs hold the hex PU plate seated on 4 grub screws that adjust the hex pickup height and inclination.
The third plate is glued (with cyanoacrylate) to the adjustable plate just to lower the mounting plane of the hex PU.
The guitar bridge PU has to be adjusted after you're done with the hex PU.

n.b. small error in the cross-section I posted earlier

I'm looking into this particular one... not only is it about ten bucks cheaper than the one shown at the top of this thread, but it's specifically for PRS guitars, and I have a PRS Custom 24. I only just got the GR-55 and GK-3, so will use the double-sided tape for now while I learn how to use this thing and make sure it's right for me. I play in a cover band doing Motown/Stax/blues/vintage soul, etc., and got the GR-55 in order to do the horns/strings/piano/etc. parts, and to avoid having to learn/get better at keyboard. The fact that it has amp/guitar modeling, and the other neat stuff, is a bonus. Hoping this works out, and if it does will probably get this mounting plate. BTW, they're out of the black ones, but have the ivory and white ones in stock, which is better for me anyway since the pickup rings on my PRS are ivory.

GK-3 Low Profile Bridge Humbucker Pickup Ring
Introductory price starting at only $14.20

About this Product:

This is a replacement bridge humbucker pickup ring designed to attach the Roland GK-3 pickup. It has a tolerance of 2 to 4mm to fit onto almost any bridge humbucker equipped guitar.

Being low profile means that you could pull the floyd rose tremolo to sharpen the pitches without having the string touching the pickup.

There are also no metal parts like screw head touching your guitar body and scratching them.

* Do NOT include M3 or 3mm nuts which are cheaper and readily available in hardware stores and therefore not economical enough to be 3D printed.

When installing the GK over that plate on a guitar with floating bridge (Ibanez RG, JEM or JS) don't you have issues of the strings touching the GK when you pull-up the tremolo bar?

I have it installed on a RG550LTD (picture attached) directly attached to the body (I did cut the pickguard) and it touches the strings when I pull-up the tremolo bar.

Now I would like to install it on a brand new JS2450 and, of course, I am not going to drill the body! But I am afraid that, due to the the height of the plate, the pickup will be too close to the strings when pulling the bar.

Hi
we have the same guitar ibanez rg550 ltd, i have black i bought in the 97.
may i ask you, can you tell me how many mm you have the action on 12 fret and 24?
On my ibanez, time ago i had installed a gk3 the same like your (there are 2 versions) but i had to cut the pickguard.
Now after many years i have bought a new Gk3 but this is a version with 12 poles, similar to the Gk2a so the profile is more thin,
and i have got now a very low action. The new Gk3 under the strings didn't need any adjustment.
Anyway i will use this configuarion with Vg8 and Vg88 because i have many buzz on strings because of super low action which i like for shred.
