This to share that I was lucky enough that my birthday happened at the same time Mike Stern played at Blue Note - Milan. My wife present was a ticket for the concert!
Mike is recovering from his accident and played a 90 min gig with Dave Weckl (Drums), Tom Kennedy (Bass) , Bob Malach (sax). A couple of Fender tube amps on stage plus DS-1 and what looked like a SPX90.. and nothing else! Very inspiring what you can do with your wizardry a guitar and talented musicians. Mike Stern Yamaha Tele sounded very good!
This might ignite a 'less is more' moment in my gear...  ;)

Using a solid body  electric guitar to play jazz is a brilliant move and opened up a large vocabulary.

I didn't know that he had broken both shoulders in the fall. Injuries suck.

"While additional reps were no doubt in order after Stern sustained twin shoulder fractures upon falling onto a New York City street in July, it remains difficult to imagine he has much room for improvement. If the effects of these injuries are significantly persistent - Stern attests to some measure of ongoing limitation in the use of his picking hand - reports from recent sit-ins at New York's 55 Bar suggest he is surely approaching full strength."
