Does anyone know of guitar fretboard training software that will recognize the midi input from tripleplay?  Looking for something along the lines of these online tools:

www.fachords.com/guitar-learning-software/

But would like to use the tripleplay for input rather than mouse clicks.

anybody?

Thank you for your reply. That does look interesting, but it appears as though they discontinued it and made the download unavailable last month.  I am really looking for an interactive teaching tool that starts at the basics, i.e. learning fretboard notes, and on up.

You might be better off getting a Fretlight guitar.  The included software, Guitar Pro, has huge training possibilities.

Have you guys used fretlight?  Kinda seems to me that it would be backwards learning (i.e. "put your finger where the light is" as opposed to "put your finger on the 3rd string "A" i.e. makes you figure out where the note is before you play it)

Also I am trying to promote reading the music, not staring at the fretboard.

I have found a pretty good online tutorial at www.fachords.com (I'm sure there are many others) but cant find one that responds to midi guitar.

skoove.com has a pretty great online PIANO tutorial that responds to a midi keyboard, so I know midi control is possible, at least in chrome.

I use this software for playing scales and rhythm while looking up the patterns on the fingerboard in this tool. It also has MIDI capability so you can actually hook up a MIDI Guitar (like the Carvin SH575 at [...]) and have it track your fingering to create a MIDI notation to drive other MIDI instruments or simply record the MIDI song direct from Guitar. It comes with another software that converts MIDI to notation so you can play and it notates for you based on the incoming MIDI signal. This makes it easy to create your own songs and score them while playing.

Other similar tools are G7 by Sibelius, which comes with Kontact Player but MIDISoft Guitar Tool is cheaper, has a better chord display in the GUI (3000 chords!!) and comes with all the features that G7 offers as well.

it converts guitar tab files to songs and allows song creation using tab notation as well as chord notation and lyrics! G7 does does not offer lyrics.

Highly recommend this product!

of course the FTP includes Presonus Notion  - a MIDi Guitar Tablature / sheet music  creation tool
