"UNREAD" button missing at the top menu
« on: February 07, 2011, 06:00:42 AM »
I have always enjoyed just clicking on the "UNREAD" button at the top to see all posts from my last visit.

Where has it gone?

You do not have "Show unread..." at very top?

Hi Brent

Not that menu, Just under the avatar, it shows - HOME, HELP, SEARCH, PROFILE, MY MESSAGES, CALENDAR, DOWNLOADS, MEMBERS, LOGOUT -
It use to show an "UNREAD" button there that show all new posts and replies, in all the sub forums.

The "Show unread..." link shows only the unread for that specific sub forum.

OK, I got you, yes, there have been some big changes as I am sure you have noticed. If you go back to the HOME page and select "Show unread..." it should show all topics. In the meantime I will check to see if we can add that back without too much trouble and that if you are in a forum and hit it you will see all unread.

EDIT - Today (May 20140) after you log in the top of the site should resemble this
(See "Show Unread Topics since last visit" at the top

Yes - a former SMF "Plug In" provided the currently missing function.

My #1 compliant is it used to say at the very top of the page ""Show recent posts from all topics""
And yes, its currently missing. This shows ALL Recent Topics.

Until it returns, you can get the same effect in this manner

1) Click "Home"

2) Scroll / Page down all the way to the bottom of the page.

3) Find the area called "Recent Posts"

4) Click on the 45 degree stack of paper "Icon" underneath the text "Recent Posts".

or

Click this URL Link
http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=recent
5) Finally you will see 10 pages of All Recent Posts, and all the contents, sorted recent ones first, regardless of the specific Topic or Board these were posted.

We have updated from SMF 1.1.12 to SMF 2.0 RC4, it may be the former "plugin" we used to have which enabled :
""Show recent posts from all topics""
may not be able to return due to SMF Version compatibility issues.

Our Admin "MCK" is seeking a solution.
I hope the missing feature returns, as I really miss not having it. At least we have a workaround, but it requires a lot of steps where before it was a one click function, right at the top.
