Mooer's GE200 multi-effects pedal promises "unparalleled amp modelling in its price range"
By Michael Astley-Brown (Total Guitar, Guitarist) 9 hours agoGuitars

New affordable unit features Micro Preamp tech and IR speaker cab models

Mooer has been on a roll lately, and the GE200 is the culmination of all the company's efforts thus far, pairing the impressive tech from its Micro Preamps with a host of onboard effects, as well as IR speaker cab models.

The numbers are impressive: 55 amp models; 26 IR speaker cab models (and the ability to use third-party IRS); 70 effects; a 52-second looper with half-speed and reverb effects; drum machine with 40 patterns and 10 metronome rhythms; plus the ability to store up to 200 presets.

The onboard screen promises easy signal chain reordering, while there's USB connectivity for PC patch editing and direct audio recording, and programmable outputs to integrate into a variety of setups.

Looks tempting. Especially the Cab Thru function with cab sim on just one channel.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

Is no one capable of playing something slow and showing off some presets?

Sadly 99% of new gear youtube videos  are more focused on the player demonstrating their chops - and very few actually show what the gear under review is capable of

Its a result of too many trolls bashing non speed metal players on the youtube comments area.

Re GE200 - no external FX Loop = no interest for me.

I have been watching this topic for some time now and I see it has potential. It's amp models are very nice sounding and the cabs are IR based and you can install custom IR's. That is the feature I have been waiting for. The reluctance Boss and Roland to produce a product with better amps and IR's will force me to look at other companies and I think a lot of players like myself will move on as well. :'(

Everything from modeling to the real deal, my house looks like a music store.

Liking the look of this.  If you know your fav pickups and don't want to investigate p/u modeling, the Mooer GE200 seems to be a very attractive proposition.

User IRs is a big big selling point, and a kick up the backside for many guitar processor manufacturers.  More demos needed!

Got mine today! Now I see why all you see if heavy riffs and not much blues. There's not many presets that lend itself that way. Mainly metal sounds. That being said, doing a few tweaks and you can get some good sounds out of it. Only been playing with it about an hour and half that time was trying to figure out how to upgrade the firmware. "LEFT PEDAL WHILE PLUGGING IN THE POWER, then upgrade from the software". I'll definitely report back after I figure out how to make the damn thing do Jimi, Stevie, and the Stones. Don't think it can do Bonamassa, I think it's too f'ing lazy.

It does act as a sound card on a MAC straight out of the box.

Best clip of the GE200 so far. Last part where he rolls back the volume is the best bit.

Still lacking MIDI I/O - ( to add more  Control )
and no FX Loop

I get 90% of this with carefully programmed Boss GT-1 IMHO

Maybe there will be a Mooer GE400 at NAMM - which adds the missing features I seek  ?

There is an editor, so it should be possible to control it from the VController. But it may be more useful to add support for the Katana on the VController.

The Mooer GE200 is the low cost "DSP Modeler dujour"
Quotesomething that is enjoying great but probably short-lived popularity or publicity.
