Its a bit buried now but this thread has most of the Help info for this site:

VGuitar Forums > VGuitar Central > Forum / Web Site Help / FAQ
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?board=23.0

Everyone has an opinion - Chat is fun but for a newbie here, its confusing if you are brand new to our VGuitar Forum - and cant find anything.

and read my blog

Idea: re-arrange the list of forums, so that everything VG-99 related is listed under "VG-99". Maybe newbies aren't scrolling all the way down the list of forums, which is quite a long list.

Alternative Idea: it's difficult to know how to sort and show the various forums without user experience testing (which is expensive), so maybe the best solution is to answer that FAQ by pasting a link to the Patches section. That only works if the URL to a section of forums remains unchanged.

It looks to me like this is the link to use:

https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php/board,35.0.html

I think the fact that there's a separate section for Mag PU patches makes it impossible, given current forum site organization, to offer a link to "all the VG-99 patches at this site", but it's a start.

maybe we could have a graphical home page with a link in here to the discussion threads.

so if you stumble onto this site out of the blue, you'll be able to grab all the FAQ data and patches you want and only have to delve in here if you feel like chatting.

just an idea.
no idea if it's even feasible...or sensible.

I am a newb,  :-[ and  most answers to questions I had I found by using search. But I have done a lot of searching...

The introduction link above is really good. I agree it needs to be made sticky and faq-like.

maybe it could go in a 'Beginners look here first' forum

And cover questions like

Footpedal options - do I have to buy an FC300?

How to setup your (GK) pickup with the VG - what really are the correct settings for electric emulations, for acoustic emulations?

Important note about downloading patches which are saved as g9 editor files that will override your GK settings and/or set patch volume to zero

Importance of setting output type correctly in your global settings e.g headphones, fx loop etc

How to access the Univibe and other exotic effects (they're buried under the Mod fx)

How to create an awesome metal tone like LoG/Meshuggah/Decapitated etc.etc? - GT8 tweakers guide has some great info

Why have Bill Rupperts vg demos dissapeared from Soundclick?

This is a great forum BTW!!!

Yes the only annoyance is for me to have user comments about patches under the patches area. Otherwise it is very good the way it is. I would separate where the patches are comments about them. And thank you for a forum for this medium.

Along with Patch categories like Rock, Acoustic, etc I'd like see patches on the creators page.  So if you click on an individual it will take you to their page with info about them plus their patches.  :)

When I recently bought my VG99 the guy said just ask any questions on the forum and you will have an answer within several hours. That has been the case and I am extremely grateful! Thanks.

Maybe I'm not using the forum correctly and nit-picking but the reference threading to questions on complex issues sometimes gets kinda hard to follow especially if the answer has been bounced or moved.  I've sometimes tried to follow a link that someone has inserted in an answer post only to end up in another part of the forum which seems to have no direct relevance or link.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to separate within the v-instrument specialties, all the strictly bloggy comments, but that is asking for more user discipline.

I've spent some time on forum design teams and the GUI logic always has to have some assumptions as to how people browse the topics and posts and questions of 'intuitive cues' back and jump buttons and links are always tricky.

Having picked at that, I'll also add that the posted answers are often straight forward and right on, and that's cause of the great and reliable members this forum has!
