If midi thru is enabled on your device, and the GR-55 has PC RX and PC TX enabled, this will cause the GR-55 to lock up when sending program change, or changing patch directly with the GR-55.
The PC (program change) message ends up in a continual loopback.

Disable PC OUT on the GR-55, or even better, disable the midi thru on your device.
It makes no difference if it is 5 pin DIN or USB.
