Thats often a result of poor 13 pin contacts

The sound crackles when moving the volume knob of the GK3,
Similar to a bad contact of guitar volume pot.
Thanks

You only have two options:
1: Replace the noisy pot inside the GK, which may be viable if you are a DIY type.
2: Replace the GK-3 pickup

Roland states the GK-Vol pot is an Alpha P/N#  RV09A-40-15F-B50K

This is a compatible replacement

Does the GK-3 pot carry audio at all? Thought it was a CV kind of thing controlling DSP assignments? It will however cause static if the ground of the GK cable is bad. Been there. Resoldered the ground and it was gone.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

Thank you the part number,
Is there any problem opening the GK to replace the parts,
There is a couple of GK2s around with the same crackle volume pot problem.

Maybe just my guess, but "crackle" implies analogue, & that generally means a pot's element hasn't been worked enough to keep it clean. (It's called a WIPER for a reason maybe, eh?)

It's at least irresponsible to encourage replacement for something that merely needs maintenance. ::) Next thing ya know, a new one goes in, & months later is mysteriously showing The Same Damn Problem.

Just a panel-mount mini linear anyway. If I get around to it, I'll look into mil-spec hermetics, but anyone with dialup can probably find one first. :o Not expensive, in any case.

Had a couple GK replaced with the same crackle problem.
Any recommendation of maintenance for the GK volume knob.

IF your guitar sits in a tight case, the lid pressure is probably compressing on the GK knob and loosening the centre wiper contact tension.
I recommend checking the case, . . . if that is the case  :P

The pot circuit is analog, where it dials in a control voltage between 0~5 volts.
