Fitting a Les Paul pickup ring

Don't ruin your pickup rings by skipping this step! Dan Erlewine nibbles, files, scrapes and sands to create a curve that matches the top of his Les Paul.

About the guitar in this video: This is Dan's R9 Historic Les Paul, built in 2002 by the Gibson Custom Shop. It's the prototype reissue of the '59 Sunburst that Dan traded to Mike Bloomfield in 1967. Dan got Mike's Goldtop in that swap, and Bloomfield used the Sunburst in the Electric Flag. Dan supplied the wood to Gibson for this guitar: Michigan curly maple, originally cut for use as a cello top.

Very nice.  I was a big fan of Bloomfield's work with the burst.  I'd heard about their much vaunted swap of guitars back in the day.  I bet he still has the goldtop too.

In my case I have a neck pickup ring with a small crack in it.  I wonder if I can glue that crack?  I'd rather keep the original pickup ring on the guitar rather than trying to color match a new one and do all that work...
