I am planning on being there. Typically, I try to get down as early as possible on Friday, and leave by the early afternoon, LA traffic being what it is.

"Alesis Announce AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad

18 January 2012:

Alesis are unveiling the AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad at NAMM. The AmpDock harnesses the massive processing power of iPad, allowing you to unleash your ultimate guitar tone.

Alesis AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad

Building upon the design and technology of the widely acclaimed Alesis iO Dock, the AmpDock is the world's first device for guitarists that enables tonal shaping through iPad's processor. The AmpDock fully encloses your iPad or iPad 2 in a rugged and portable device made especially for guitarists and bassists. Whether you're in the studio or on the stage, the AmpDock helps you create "the sound in your head" with real controls and professional inputs and outputs that work with virtually any app, as well as your amp and pedal setup.

Alesis AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad

The AmpDock houses your iPad or iPad 2 in a durable enclosure that features a locking door to fully integrate your iPad and protect it on all sides. The AmpDock's professional inputs and outputs include a 1/4? high-impedance guitar input and an XLR-1/4? combo input for connecting a microphone, a second guitar or another instrument. The AmpDock also includes 1/4? outputs with Guitar/Mic and Ground Lift switches, so you can connect to your guitar amp or go straight into a PA. For use with software MIDI applications on your Mac or PC, the AmpDock also includes a USB MIDI port. A headphone output with volume control is also onboard, so you can practice and experiment with your apps at any time, day or night.

Alesis AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad

The AmpDock also comes with a rugged pedalboard controller, which enables you to control volume and other continuous controls, bypass, program changes, and other parameters. You can use the AmpDock with or without its pedalboard controller, and MIDI connections enable you to use the AmpDock with other pedal controllers and MIDI hardware.

Alesis AmpDock Multi-Effects Guitar Processor for iPad

The AmpDock gives you all the controls you need to use your favorite guitar apps while performing or recording. Fire up apps like GarageBand, AmpliTube, or JamUp, and use AmpDock's controls to instantly switch between your presets or activate effects. AmpDock's two assignable knobs give you instant control over whatever parameters you choose, and the AmpDock's included pedalboard empowers you with control over your apps that was previously impossible: Use the Program Up/Down buttons to instantly switch between your presets, and use the FX button to unload powerful effects at will. AmpDock's pedalboard even includes an expression pedal that can be used for volume control or to send MIDI control changes like wah, frequency, or delay. You'll also have instant access to Main, Headphone, Input 1, and Input 2 level controls with dedicated knobs on the AmpDock for easy adjustment of these crucial settings.

The AmpDock is designed to help you perform in any situation. Whether you're practicing, recording, or in front of an audience, the AmpDock is easy to fit into your personal setup. The AmpDock has a built-in kickstand allowing it to sit securely above the handle on top of most guitar amps. You can also mount the AmpDock on a mic stand using the Alesis Module Mount (sold separately).

You'll never need to place your valuable iPad on the floor, or stomp footswitches right next to your iPad's glass screen! And like the popular Alesis iO Dock, the AmpDock has a rock-solid 30-pin dock connector embedded in its body, so you'll never have to worry about clumsy cables and connectors. Just slide your iPad in the AmpDock, close the door, and you're ready to jam.

http://line6.com/news/general/1200

Due to some recent gear sell offs, hard work, and christmas bonuses I find myself in the Line 6 "Dream Rig " owners club. Last month I got a DT50 Amp and JTV-59 to augment my JTV-69, Ive had a HD500 for 14 months and just now starting to work with them. A Weber Mass-Lite Attenuator helps too.

Very excited about the new Version 2.0 HD firmware coming soon:

I still own the VG-99 and GR-55 and remain a strong advocate for Roland products, but frankly Line 6 customer relations folks do a much better job and actually listen and respond to customer feedback ideas for improvements in the product.

(Now if only  the Line-6 gear sounded as good as Roland's ')

Free v2.0 Firmware Update For POD® HD Multi-effects

Coming soon! The free v2.0 firmware update dramatically expands the sonic palette of all POD® HD multi-effect processors, and enhances integration with the James Tyler® Variax® and DT25 or DT50 guitar amplifier dream rig.

For all POD HD multi-effects, the update includes two brand-new HD guitar models, the world's first HD bass model (with eight incredible mic model choices!) and a new vintage-voiced mic preamp model:
"Flip Top" HD Bass Amp Model. Introducing the world's very first HD bass amp model based on* the immortal Ampeg® B-15NF Portaflex®, one of the most popular studio bass amps of all time. The modeled cab features the original 15-inch speaker perfect for laying down some serious thump.

Eight New Mic Choices for the HD Bass Amp Model. Get your ideal bass tone from the new "Flip Top" HD bass model with eight mic choices based on*
Shure® SM57
Sennheiser® 421
AKG® D12
AKG® D112
EV® RE20
Shure® SM7B
Heil® PR40
Neumann® U47

"Plexi Lead NRM" and "Plexi Lead BRT" HD Guitar Amp Models. Stunning new HD guitar amp models based on* the Normal and Bright inputs of the legendary Marshall® "Plexi" 1959 Super Lead 100-watt head. Plug into the classic cascading crunch of this historic English head!

"Vintage" HD Mic Preamp Model. A vintage-voiced tube mic preamp based on* the Requisite® Y7. Place this model at any point in the signal chain to give incredible warmth to vocal sounds and guitar and bass tones. Its controls include:
Gain
HPF (High Pass Filter)
LPF (Low Pass Filter)
Phase
Output
The update also includes a variety of new features and enhancements that make a POD HD500 or POD HD Pro, James Tyler Variax, and DT25 or DT50 guitar amplifier dream rig even more powerful and easy to use. The result is complete analog and digital reconfiguration of guitar models, effects, HD amplifier models and analog tube topology with the press of a single footswitch.
Variax Knobs as Controllers. Variax Tone and Volume knobs can act like expression pedals, controlling different aspects of your tone such as delay time, amp drive or anything else you want. Controllers are capable of driving up to 50+ POD HD parameters simultaneously, making it possible to morph between sounds with a single guitar knob.

Variax Toggle Switch Behavior (Local Control). To provide smooth, intuitive transitions between the modeled and magnetic pickups, you can choose whether the Volume, Tone and Pickup Selector switch will control both the model and magnetic pickups simultaneously, or lock the model and only affect the magnetic pickups. For example, when switching between acoustic and electric tones, you can lock the acoustic model controls so that tweaking knobs and switching pickups when playing the electric sound won't affect the sound of the acoustic when you switch back.

Variax Control Mode (Global/Preset). Choose whether you want to assign Variax guitar models and Local Control settings globally, or on a per-preset basis. Alternately, you can get complete manual control by choosing not to control Variax settings with POD presets.

New Input Selections. The new input selections — "Variax" and "Variax Mags" — allow you to assign any configuration of magnetic pickups and Variax models per POD HD preset. The new "Variax" input selection also recalls whether you were using mags or models per preset, allowing you to pick up exactly where you left off – no need for manual selection or input changes.

POD HD/Variax Custom Tuning Creation. Now you can create custom Variax tunings for any or all of your POD HD presets. Save and recall them per preset — and get up to 512 unique custom guitar tunings with instant footswitch control.

A Smarter, Faster Path to Great Live Sound

StageScape™ M20d is the world's first smart mixing system for live sound. Utilizing a groundbreaking touchscreen visual mixing environment, StageScape M20d streamlines the way you mix to get your sound dialed in quickly and stay in the creative zone. Massive DSP power delivers comprehensive, professional audio processing on every channel including multi-band feedback suppression. Pristine audio quality will impact your stage performances, and multi-channel recording allows you to easily capture every rehearsal or show, with or without a computer. The entire system can be controlled remotely from the stage or audience with one or more iPad® devices. StageScape M20d is the integrated professional mixing system that delivers great live sound, so you can focus on what's most important: your performance.

Touchscreen Visual Mixing

StageScape M20d features an intuitive, 7" full-color resistive touchscreen interface to get you mixing fast. The touchscreen displays icons on a stage that represent each performer or input, replacing generic rows of knobs and faders. Now you can reach for elements in the mix as you see them on the stage in front of you. A single touch on a performer's icon gives full access to all parameters relating to that channel, from basic tweaks through deep effects editing.

Learn More

Auto-sensing Inputs and Outputs

From solo performances to full band shows, setting up for gigs is fast and easy. With auto-sensing inputs throughout, StageScape M20d activates each microphone or line input as soon as you plug in a cable and automatically configures a custom channel strip setting that includes essential gain, EQ, effects and routing. The monitor and main outputs work the same way. Plug in a PA speaker or monitor and it immediately appears on the touchscreen and output signals are automatically routed.

Control the Mix via iPad, Wherever You Are

The convenience of mobility has become integral to so many aspects of our lives, and the M20d extends that convenience to the stage. Connect one or more iPad® devices simultaneously (via optional USB Wi-Fi adaptor) for complete remote control over all mixer functions. Adjust the front-of-house mix from anywhere in the audience.

Each iPad® can control different screens or different parameters in addition to the mixer's own touchscreen. Whether you're a band member adjusting your monitor mix or a sound man out in the audience, you've got full control.

Learn More

Professional Suite of Dynamics, EQ and FX on Every Channel

StageScape M20d provides a professional suite of dedicated Dynamics, EQ and FX processors custom tailored to each channel including fully parametric EQs, dynamic EQs, filters, standard and multi-band compression, limiters, gates, delays and more. That's over 100 professional audio processors ready at all times to create the perfect mix. 32-bit floating point processing throughout provides pristine, high-resolution sound quality. Everything you need to get professional instrument and vocal sounds is available where you need it, when you need it.

Learn More

Multi-channel Recording, With or Without a Computer

StageScape M20d is designed to make recording so easy that it can be done any time, all the time — even without a computer. The M20d records 16 channels plus the main mix in high-resolution, 24-bit WAV format to SD card, USB drive or direct to your Mac® or PC. The convenience of being able to record to external media means you can track at a moment's notice with no DAW setup required. Since the recorded output is pre-effects, the raw tracks will be ready for later mixing in the recording software of your choice. The M20d enables you to easily capture everything — from ideas and rehearsals to entire performances — in the way that works best for you.

Multi-band Feedback Suppression

Since feedback can quickly ruin a performance, StageScape M20d features per-channel multi-band feedback suppression. The technology quickly identifies problem frequencies and compensates automatically.

Feedback suppression works by continuously analyzing the audio signal, identifying frequencies that have the characteristics of feedback (steady frequencies with few overtones, rising in amplitude), and then applying a narrow notch filter to remove the offending frequency. You can control up to 12 independent feedback frequencies.
Learn More

Quick Capture Sound Checking

At the touch of a button, StageScape can record up to 20 seconds to internal memory from any of the inputs. Quick Capture sound check enables you to work on dialing in the perfect sound quickly by looping a recording of the input, whether a drum sound, an acoustic guitar, a vocal or the entire band. Best of all, you can use an iPad® to adjust your front-of-house full band mix from the audience while you listen to the sound check playback.

Digital Networking via L6 LINK and the Dream Stage

Connect StageScape M20d to Line 6 StageSource speaker systems via L6 LINK-enabled speaker systems to create the ultimate digitally networked dream stage setup. StageScape automatically recognizes which loudspeakers are being used as monitors and routes monitor feeds. Main PA speakers automatically self-configure, pan stereo signals, adjust Smart Speaker modes and perform system-wide optimization. StageScape automatically recognizes subwoofers and sets crossovers, and detects which loudspeakers are being used as monitors and routes monitor feeds.

When connected via L6 LINK, StageScape M20d and StageSource speakers are capable of unparalleled power and flexibility. Together they redefine the typical mixer-speaker paradigm to introduce a smarter live sound experience in which the live rig is a complete, intelligent ecosystem rather than merely a linear combination of components.

Learn More

Tweak Pad, Visual Multi-parameter Control

For quickly dialing in channel EQ, dynamics and FX, StageScape M20d provides an incredibly easy-to-use Tweak Pad X-Y multi-parameter controller. Drag a finger toward common sound descriptors like "bright" or "dark" and multiple parameters adjust simultaneously to achieve that sound.  For experienced engineers who want fine control over all parameters, Deep Edit Mode provides detailed plug-in-style interfaces, with discrete calibrated adjustment capability.

Total Scene Recall

StageScape can save and recall a virtually unlimited number of stage setups, scenes and channel DSP presets. We provide a huge library of professionally crafted channel DSP presets to get you started and dramatically accelerate the process of getting great instrument and microphone sounds. Plug in a kick drum mic, choose a kick drum preset and StageScape automatically configures a custom-tailored suite of channel processors – all you have to do is drag your finger around the Tweak Pad to dial in the perfect kick drum sound.

Four Stereo Master Effects Engines

Four master stereo effects engines supply pristine studio quality reverbs, delays, a vocal doubler and more. The StageScape Master Stereo Reverb effect delivers studio-grade algorithms for adding the perfect amount of high-resolution ambience and character to lead vocals and the overall mix. You also get an additional stereo reverb effect engine for creating custom-tailored instrument or backing vocal reverbs.

The third effects engine is a magnificent vocal doubler that delivers stunning depth and richness to any lead or backing vocal. Finally, the fourth stereo effects engine offers a choice of professional delays, chorus and flanger effects to add textures to instruments and the overall mix.

Washburn Debuts Acoustic Bender Guitar

The Washburn Acoustic Bender brings country licks to the acoustic world. With almost no aesthetic alterations to the guitar at all, players will be able pick and bend their riffs in style. It will be available for $1,783.90.

The Acoustic Bender is a dreadnought body shape with rosewood back and sides, and includes a Fishman® pickup. The top is solid cedar, and includes an abalone rosette, purfling and a back strip, making the body of this guitar quite striking. The neck is made from mahogany and has a rosewood fingerboard, and the fretboard features an exquisite tree of life inlay. The nut and saddle are both made from nubone, and the bridge is made from mahogany.

The bender itself is mostly inside the guitar. The only signs of it being there are a slot for the strap holder to move and the pin which takes the place of the B-string pin. The mechanism allows the player to bend the B-string up a full step with a simple push down on the neck. This allows the player to simulate pedal steel type bends. Benders have been available on electric guitars since 1968, but the Washburn Acoustic Bender marks the first time this type of device is available in a full production acoustic guitar.

Washburn Guitars is owned by US Music Corp, located in Mundelein, IL. US Music Corp is an international music company that manufactures and distributes products worldwide under Washburn Guitars,

Delay effects are a must for satisfying the individualistic creativity of any guitarist. Their long history encompasses both the analog and digital eras. Many classic delay units have played a prominent role through the years, contributing to numerous memorable phrases, generating dreamlike spaces, and producing psychedelic performances, both on stage and in the studio. These sought-after units – as well as new delays destined to become standards for the coming generation – are all included in the VOX DelayLab. In addition to 30 diverse delay effects, the DelayLab offers a stereo looper that can capture up to 28 seconds, 30 stage-ready programs, and a wealth of extras, all packed into a sturdy diecast body. With an expressly vintage vibe, the easy-to-use front panel offers satisfying hands-on control over a diverse array of sounds and features. In short, the DelayLab delivers virtually infinite potential, befitting its status as the new standard for effect processors.

From vintage to mainstays and beyond
Over the years, numerous delay effects have come along; tape echoes, analog delays, digital delays, etc. Each has varied by type, manufacturer, and internal structure. From the distinctive distortion and warmth of tape, the unique tonal change produced by an analog BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) circuit, to the lo-fi sound typical of low-resolution digital circuitry, the DelayLab delivers perfect models for a carefully selected set of historically significant delay units that have fascinated guitarists through the years. There are also numerous special types of effects such as pitch change, panning, and reverse. Parameters not found on the original models are also provided, offering unique expressive possibilities that go beyond simply modeling the classic units of the past.

Delay innovations
The DelayLab also contains numerous practical and original delay effects that will inspire any guitarist. Dual Delay makes effective use of two delays; Distortion Delay adds distortion to only the delayed sound; Reverse Delay can adjust the mix ratio between forward and reverse sound; Space Delay applies a string-like tonal effect to deepen the sound. An incredible array of possibilities are available, as any of these effects are capable of creating aggressive and radical sounds, as well as being used to add a subtle sense of depth.

Integrated Stereo Looper
The DelayLab provides extensive looper capabilities that can be combined with the delay effects to surpass the abilities of the numerous dedicated units that have been in the spotlight of guitar performance in recent years. The DelayLab goes well beyond simply layering sounds by providing features that open up new creative possibilities – such as reverse playback, triggered playback, and using an expression pedal to control various parameters. There are also three types of delay that can be used simultaneously with the looper. Plus, the DelayLab is able to create performances overflowing with originality by adjusting the L/R delay times independently, or by attenuating the volume of the looped phrases each time you overdub so that the latest overdub will stand out.
Thirty stage-ready preset programs
The thirty preset programs take full advantage of the DelayLab's extensive features and parameters. Editable and re-writable, these programs range from simple and versatile types, to complex and distinctive effects. There are also programs that reproduce the delay sound of famous guitarists as heard on classic recordings.

Anyone at the Boss/Roland booth, can you ask if the GR-55 is going to get upgraded COSM like the GT-100 has??

Very unlikely since the GT-100 supposedly has a new advanced processor.
They say advanced but that could mean anything from 1000% better to 1% better, maybe the same CPU with the clock bumped up a MHz or two.

I have never know Roland/Boss to re-visit an existing product with an update unless there is a problem or fault.

QuoteI have never know Roland/Boss to re-visit an existing product with an update unless there is a problem or fault.

There used to be an exception to this rule on a few high profile Roland products:  both the original  V-Drums, and V-Guitar , and V-Studio series of products (VG-8, VG-88) had "Version 2 Firmware" updates 2 years after initial release.

But those days seem to be over.

Which explains a big part of the reason when given a choice between Roland or Line 6 for an equivalent product category-  I tend to buy the Line 6 version!

And note that Fishman was showing it's (expected) Wireless Pitch to MIDI converter.  Not many details online yet so not a lot to point you to.  I tried it only for a few minutes.  Nice.... but what I could try didn't give me any idea how the tracking really was (all slow attack sounds)

There used to be an exception to this rule on a few high profile Roland products:  both the original  V-Drums, and V-Guitar , and V-Studio series of products (VG-8, VG-88) had "Version 2 Firmware" updates 2 years after initial release.

But those days seem to be over.

Which explains a big part of the reason when given a choice between Roland or Line 6 for an equivalent product category-  I tend to buy the Line 6 version!

case in point:
Free v2.0 Firmware Update For POD® HD Multi-effects
http://line6.com/news/general/1200

Its just not cool releasing something in NAMM 2011, only to have a better firmware portion of it coming in 2012 =[ The GR-55 is great with the exception of the COSM sounds, and thats whats holding me back from buying it instead of just getting a much cheaper GR-20 and using something else for effects.. which is an option but a pain in the a for having to bring more stuff to shows.

I believe when the press release for the Boss GT-100 states it has improved COSM sounds - I would consider this is in direct a comparison to its predecessor - the 2008 Boss GT-10.

I will check - but I doubt the GT-100's COSM AMP sounds are much of an improvement over the GR-55.

What i do expect is that the speed of the GT-100's user interface controls and patch-to-patch change times will be much faster than the overburdened DSP in the GR-55.
I expect the GT-100 will have a broader range of onboard FX and signal flow re-routing options.

Even golden ears Bill Ruppert has stated the COSM Amp modelling in the GR-55 is a sonic improvement with more dynamic range, compared to the same COSM Amp model in the VG-99.

Remember Roland uses common COSM modelling algorithms across a wide array of products - and in my opinion each COSM generation lasts about 4 years before sonic improvement and improved touch response and dynamic range becomes apparent - mostly due to improved DSP ICs with higher MIPS capability, and lower noise/ higher dynamic range A/D and D/A convertors. Since 2001 all Roland COSM guitar modlellers are now using 24 bit @ 44.1kHz processing. They used to use 16 bit @ 32kHz in the 1990's - which explains why a Boss GT-5 or VG-8 sounds grainy to my ears these days.

Easy to test if you have access to a Boss GT-3, GT-6, GT-8, GT-10   -all in the same room with one guitar and one set of Sony MDR-7506 headphones.

Dial up the same Matchless or Vox AC-30TB or JTM-45 Amp patch on all 4 and play and observe the steady improvement.

But I prefer the sounds and touch response I get with my Vox Tonelab LE.

For bulk of my live band situations - I like the full integration and well thought out system of the Tyler Variax, HD-500, DT50 combo the best. very reliable and road worthy and great tones, on the fly alt tunings, and swift patch change times and reverb tails.

So far, the Highlight of NAMM 2012 for me is at the Line6 booth specifically the news of the 2.0 HD update to my current Line gear and that new StageScape M20d probably suits my live sound needs better than hauling a Presonus 16.0.0 Studiolive board.

This year marks Marshall's 50th anniversary, and to celebrate the occasion they're releasing a different one-watt amp (available in head and combo versions) to represent a popular amp from each decade. A new one will be released every 11 weeks. First up is the JTM1 to represent the 60s. Next is the JMP1, then the JCM1 (think JCM800), the DSL1 (think my personal amp, the DSL2000) and then the monstrous JVM1.

Meet The Monster.

Zoom took the groundbreaking design of its G3 pedal and dialed it up a notch with the G5 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator Pedal. The G5 combines the ease of a stompbox pedalboard and the power of a multi-effects pedal and USB audio interface, along with an extra LCD display/footswitch interface, Tube Booster, 3D Z-pedal and additional amp models and effects. While extremely easy to use, the G5 gives you the ultimate in control over your guitar tones for in stage and studio settings.
Four stomps. One pedal.

The G5 offers four large LCD displays and corresponding footswitches that form a graphical interface, allowing you to utilize up to nine stompbox and amp effects simultaneously. The interface has also been simplified with three control knobs for each display. This intuitive design makes creating, saving and rearranging the effect chain of your own sounds a breeze and provides easy navigation in live and studio settings.

G5 Slant
Tube Booster for amp overdrive.

The G5's Tube Booster footswitch allows you to add sudden power and intensity to your performance, particularly when soloing. While its Boost control can add up to 16dB of amp overdrive, the Tone knob lets you control the EQ of your sounds with the added volume. The Tube Booster also offers extra power when recording directly to a line input.

G5 Tube Booster
Z-pedal offers 3D parameter control.

The expression pedal featured on the G5 supports 3D action by sensing not only conventional up/down, but also sideways movement. This Z-pedal lets you build highly complex sound control patterns by allowing you to assign up to four parameters in each axis of pedal movement (vertical and horizontal). In addition, there are effects specifically designed for use with the Z-pedal. Get creative in ways never imagined before, and explore a whole new realm of pedal performance.

G5 Z-Pedal
Evolution of tube amp simulation.

A newly developed sigmoid curve clipper re-creates the smooth clipping of a tube amp's waveform. With its tube distortion, the G5 can simulate amplifier sounds, including clean, crunch and full-gain drive tones that are authentic to the original models while maintaining the nuances of picking and strumming techniques.

G5 Sigmoid Curve Clipper
Super-real amp modeling.

The G5's 20 super-real amp models range from vintage to the latest trends in amp technology, each with its own distinct cabinet modeling that can be used to alter its tone characteristics. By combining amplifiers and cabinets, you can digitally design your own custom rig. The G5's modeling technology provides the best tone for both live performance and direct recording.

Note: Only one amp model can be used at a time.
100 world-renowned stompbox effects.

The G5 offers 100 diverse types of stompbox effects, including some of the world's most popular guitar pedals and rack-mounted processors. You can use up to nine effects in any combination. The G5's wide range of effects includes distortion, compression, modulation, delay, and reverb. Its HD Reverb uses DSP power to produce a rich resonance that rivals outboard gear used in professional studios and live setups.

Note: Only two effects can be used in combinations that feature amp models or HD Reverb.
The newest generation of DSP: ZFX-IV.

The all-new ZFX-IV DSP effects processor boasts amazing power and clarity, upgrading everything from sound to functionality and operability over previous ZFX versions. By using 32-bit floating-point processing, the G5 can produce amplifier sounds that are more realistic than ever before.

G5 ZFX-IV
Over 120 versatile effects on-board.

Select from over 120 built-in DSP effects to create your own sounds on the G5. Try its renowned compression and wah pedals, chorus effects with stunning depth and resonant reverbs. Or let your tonal imagination run free with dynamic flangers, tremolos, harmonized pitch shifters, multi-tap delays, reverse delays and much more. The G5 can store up to 297 (99 banks x 3 patches) of your original creations without a hitch.
Looper function with 60-second phrase recording/overdubbing.

The G5's Looper capabilities include 60 seconds of phrase recording and overdubbing. The "sound-on-sound" function allows you to layer guitar sounds as many times as you want in real time and use looped sounds as simple backing tracks. You can even create a "full band" feel with the built-in drum machine and DSP effects for a live solo.

Note: When the UNDO/REDO function is enabled, the recording time is limited to 30 seconds.
Your personal drummer.

Every guitar player needs a drummer, and with the G5 you can choose from over 40 different rhythm patterns, including 4, 8 and 16-beat, shuffle and many others. The tap key also makes it easy to set tempo and start a one-man jam session anytime.
USB audio interface for DAW recording.

The G5 operates as an audio interface, letting you record directly to your computer via USB. All of your sound settings used during rehearsals or live performances can be recorded to your favorite DAW such as the included Steinberg Cubase LE recording software. The pedal's direct monitoring capability eliminates any latency issues, assuring realistic studio conditions and hassle-free operation.
Balanced XLR output for DI use.

With its built-in XLR output, you can avoid DI boxes completely and directly connect the G5 to any mixing console and maintain a balanced, high quality signal. Its convenient Pre/Post switch can direct an effected sound to the main outputs while sending the original analog bass guitar signal directly to the XLR output without passing through an A/D converter.

G5 Rear

Accurate, real-time Tuner function.

The pedal's Tuner function offers smooth, real-time response with precise bass tuning accuracy. Whether you're in the middle of a performance or practicing alone in your room, simply hold down the pedal's center footswitch to start getting your strings back in tune. In addition, the G5's LCD displays and LED indicators make the Tuner easy to see on a dark stage, where you can also mute the output to tune silently.
Super-low noise design.

The G5's "noise floor" of -100dBm virtually eliminates background noise and the ZNR noise reduction removes feedback and other unwanted sounds, providing you with clear tones, along with natural decay and reverb tails.
Super fast patch change speed.

With the G5's amazing 1.6ms patch change speed, you will never miss a beat. Change from rhythm playing to a solo in an instant by simply tapping a switch.
Optional expression pedal and footswitch.

Connect an optional FP02 expression pedal to the G5 and control volume in real time. Use an optional FS01 footswitch to tap the tempo used for the drum machine, looper and effects. You can also use an FS01 to mute the Delay/Reverb input or turn Delay Hold on or off.
Free Edit&Share software for Mac/PC.

Zoom's Edit&Share software, which is available as a free download for the G5, allows you to create, edit and save your personalized amp and effect settings on your computer. Use its "radar charts" to access visual representations of each preset's tone characteristics, amp/effect sorting feature to easily locate your sounds and drag-and-drop options to rearrange patches for editing purposes. With Edit&Share, you can download the latest patches online, as well as share your patches with others.

Finally, a monster guitar pedal that's easy to use: The G5.
