This might have been covered here, but I couldn't find it.  I want to use a Korg padKONTROL and have each of the 16 pads send MIDI Program Changes to the GR-55 so that I could have 16 possible patches easily available by pressing any one of the 16 pads.  In the setup I use, my feet are already pretty busy, so I need to have the padKONTROL within reach so I can just tap a pad with my finger and be at a new patch on the GR.  I assume this is possible, but I want to make sure and maybe get some tips on how to do it.  I've been using a Rockman MIDI Control Pedal to do this, but it takes up too much floor space and I really need to change GR-55 patches with my hand (most of the time).  ~Thanks

Check out Roy Smith's GR-55 live setup

He used to use an Akai MPD 26 MIDI controller to quickly access up to 64 GR-55 patches just by pressing one of the 16 pads on the MIDI controller

Thanks much for pointing me in that direction.  I had not purchased the Korg yet (didn't want to until I knew it would do the job), so when I checked out what Roy was doing, I found a cheap MPD 26 on Ebay.  Looks like it will de exactly what I need.

Hey guys, I just noticed my name in this thread. I've actually progressed one more level with MIDI control of the 55 since that link was created.

These days, I'm using a program called "MIDI Designer" with an iPad to present me with an array of about 100 buttons that instantly select patches when I touch them. This is overkill for the vast majority of players, but for my brand of totally improvised music, I never know what tone I might want to use, so I need instant access to a massive library. You can see me using it in any of the videos of my band (here's an example - )

I plan to shoot a video that shows how it all works soon.  I'll also upload the MIDI Designer file that I created that has all the buttons with their program changes. I use a Behringer iPad dock which provides MIDI in and OUT in addition to power for the iPad  (I could never do a live performance depending on iPad battery life).
