Finally I have finished the final test round of various methods of changing patches/tones

2 to 3 seconds to change patch using CTRL3/CTRL4
1 to 2 seconds to change patch using S1/S2
1 second to change patch using MIDI pedalboard
instant change from channel A to channel B or Assigns.

Yesterday I was using the CTRL3/CTRL4 posed as patch up/down.
I missed all the solos start beat...

It really seems  that channel switching is the best way to change tone.
Moreover the assigns are more powerful and fast that any other way.

Do you experience the same?

I usually switch patches with the FC-300.  I've never actually measured the patch change time, but those times sound quite long.  I'll try to test soon and report back.

This sounds very wrong

Post your VG-99 patches with these CTL3/4  Control assigns so others can verify?

and
What Brent says below!
QuoteMake sure you are not connected with USB when switching because that will slow things down.

When I was playing live I was changing patches in-between notes with the FC-300 and not missing any notes. Make sure you are not connected with USB when switching because that will slow things down.

Thanks for answers!

First : I was doing rehearsal with the band so no USB connected.

I'll test again and post patches along the weekend.
Making exact measurements with my phone chrono this time.
It was the first time I used CTRL3/4 as patch changers (Up & Down).
BTW CTRL3/4 are two FS5 clones from Proel with a stereo cable.

Usually I set on a patch x song basis using S1/S2 and then I operate real time changes
via CTR3/CTRL4 (so it cannot be the pedals themselves to slow things down) :

CTRL3 = A/B switch
CTRL4 = A channel Assigns

However two days ago I wanted to test with CTRL3/CTRL4 as Patch up/down to mimic GP10
and that were the results. A part from the perceptions, this method was slower than the others.

The MIDI Patch Switch happens with a Rolls MIDI Buddy and it's fair enough.
However the pedals are too small for my feet...

I'll get back very soon!

This matches my experience.  I'm sure there is some delay measurable in milliseconds but patch changes on the VG-99 feel very instant.

Ok I can confirm the exact timings (this time with a clock)

CTRL3/4 = 1 second on average.
S1/S2 = less than a second (.5)
MIDI = Less than a second (.4)
Channel Switch = instant

All measurements include an empiric error (my reaction time)
Moreover I have noticed that the time gets slower when I switch from a specific patch to another.

Attached you'll find 4 patches. By the number in the file name you can guess the order.
Before number 1 i have number 2 repeated. The slowest patch change is from number 3 to number 4 and back.
Moreover if I want to advance two patches with two taps (from 2 to 4 for example) in that case I have understood that
VG99 actually selects patch 3 and then patch 4. Hence the 2 seconds. I could not see that when I was playing because
I was singing at the same time so looking in front of me. Today I was looking at VG99 and my wrist watch.

The sound is interrupted abruptly when I change patch, especially from 3 to 4 and from 4 to 3.

Thanks for your help.
