All,

You heard it here first, haven't even published the calendar yet. On August 21st, I will conduct a webinar for Irvine Builds Businesses (http://www.irvinebuildsbusinesses.com) with Robert Rich (http://www.robertrich.com) as my guest. We will discuss the business side of what it takes for him to succeed as an ambient musician. Robert is a smart guy and works hard; you'll be amazed at the various "moving pieces" he coordinates.

You'll get the chance to ask questions via chat.

I'm a big fan of his, I'm thrilled that he has agreed to do this. All of you creative types who want to know what it takes to make a career out of composing your own music, here's your chance.

I met him at Ambicon last spring - very fascinating individual.  But as the type of person inclined to create music along those lines it will be very interesting.  Bookmarked!

Robert Rich- Living the Creative Life

Many people give up their dreams of becoming professional musicians or artists, particularly in the arenas of fine art and musical styles that are not mainstream commodities. Robert Rich has created a rewarding and successful career as an Ambient musician, a style that emphasizes atmospheric musical textures over traditional song structures. His award-winning music has been featured in films, documentaries, and in the numerous CDs that have been released featuring him as a solo artist or in collaborations with others.

How has Robert managed to sustain his unlikely career for three decades while maintaining his fundamental artistic vision and style? Find out when Irvine Builds Businesses Host Robert Coleman interviews him and discusses:
•   How to get started on the creative path
•   Challenges and compromises that artists face
•   The multiple revenue sources that lead to a successful career as an artist
•   An overview of opportunities within the music, film, and media production industries

My 2 cents -

I can simply not comprehend why many business today prefer to even produce a One time only (snooze or loose)  hour long (or more) "Webinars", scheduled on a Thursday at Noon PST during the  middle of the working week, and then never provide access to an archived version on YouTube for 24/7 365 day access  - when bulk of companies I know have secure firewalls which restrict access to these "live events" that eat up company time.

Seems like you are already shooting yourselves in the foot, with guaranteed limited reach of only 1%  of your target market with the one time only "webinar" paradigm.

Imagine if I had done the same with this video I shot below - i can tell you there would be no way I could gather over 30,000 views and reach a target audience and impact the world if this was streamed live on the internet only once during a ten minute window back in January 2012!

Ok I'll climb off my soapbox.

Sure Elantric, I understand, but consider this:

1. The Irvine Chamber runs this series primarily to target small-scale entrepreneurs and small business owners, who usually are not blocked by a firewall and can find the time;
2. You can also watch on an iPhone or similar, which is often not screened even in big companies;
3. If all else fails you can listen in on the dial-in number as the visual consists of mostly slides anyway;
4. And if even that fails, PM me and we'll see if I can hook you up with a recording.  ;)

Working on his slides now. Any questions or special interests you'd like to know about?

Sure.

"You use a considerable amount of technological equipment to create your music.  Do you think you could still achieve your musical goals if you only had access to acoustic instruments or is the technology used to create your music an essential part of its creation?"
