MICRO BR BR-80 System Program Version 1.04

This system program updates your MICRO BR BR-80 to the latest version 1.04.

How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system working on your BR-80 before downloading the archive file.

    Turn BR-80 power off.
    Turn BR-80 power on. And then check the version on the display of your BR-80.

*Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Bug Fix
The following bugs are fixed.

    The recorded data might have position gap after executing the "Song Optimize" operation in MTR mode.
    The "THRESHOLD" parameter of the "Noise Suppressor" might be set to the false value when it was changed to an Effect Patch of Stereo-category.

Functionality Improved

    Improved the compatibility with more types of SD cards by modified process for accessing SD cards.
    Expanded the adjustable range of the Guitar's "Input Sens."
    Improved the compatibility as USB Audio device.

Bug Fix
The following bugs are fixed.

    Rhythms might not be able to be previewed.
    Songs except four-quarter are imported as four-quarter.
    The Rhythm might not be played after loading a song.
    Changing the BEAT of a song in midstream of the Rhythm Progression misaligns the current playing location and the Measure indication.
    It might not store the effect patch number lastly selected on MTR/eBAND mode.

What you will need to update your BR-80

    BR-80
    A SD Card (We recommend the SD Card came with BR-80)
    * The SD card need to be formatted on a BR-80 and have 5MB or more free space.
    USB cable
    A computer with a USB connector (Windows 7 / Vista / XP, MacOS X)
    Exclusive AC Adaptor (PSA series sold separately) or brand-new alkaline batteries
    * You cannot use the USB bus power supply to update.

Caution when performing the update

    We recommend that you back your user data up to your computer before you perform the update. If a problem occurs and your user data is lost, you will be able to restore the data by reloading the data you saved. For details on the procedure, refer to the "Backing up to your computer" section of the Owner's Manual.
    Never apply this update data to any product other than the BR-80. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
    Never power-off your BR-80 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the BR-80 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
    We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file

    Please open/extract the downloaded "br80_sys_v104.zip" file on your computer to get the four update files named "_BOOTPRG.ES_", "_BR80PRG.BR_", "_BR80SND.BR_" and "_UPDINFO.BR_" in the "br80_sys_v104" folder.

Procedure for the update
Caution

    You must not rename the extracted files.
    Never turn off the BR-80's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the BR-80 itself may be destroyed.
    In order to protect the data from accidental loss, we recommend that you back the SD card data up to your computer before updating.

Please install the extracted system program files into your BR-80 according to the following procedure.

    Set the USB mode to STORAGE before you connect the BR-80 to your computer.
        Press the [MENU] button.
        Use the cursor buttons to move the cursor to "FUNCTION," and press the [ENTER] button.
        The FUNCTION screen will appear.
        Use the cursor buttons to move the cursor to "USB," and press the [ENTER] button.
        The USB screen will appear.
        Use the dial on the Top Panel to select "STORAGE", and push the "ENTER" button.Then, push the "ENTER" button again on the confirmation screen.
        * If the "STORAGE" has been selected already, press the "EXIT" button to return to the main screen.
        Turn the BR-80's power off and on again to enable the settings.
    Connect the computer to the BR-80's USB port by a USB cable.
    Open the BR-80 EBAND icon.
    "Removable Disk (*:)" may appear instead of the BR-80 EBAND icon.
    Copy (drag and drop) all the files included in the "br80_sys_v104" folder into the "BR-80 EBAND" icon.
    * Do not copy the "br80_sys_v104" folder.
    Disconnect the BR-80 from the computer.
    With Windows 7 / Vista / XP
    Right-click on the "BR-80 EBAND" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject."
    With Mac OS
    Drag the "BR-80 EBAND" icon to the eject icon in the Dock.
    Turn the BR-80's power off.
    Disconnect the USB cable.
    Hold down [STOP] and [REC] and press POWER button
    When the SYSTEM UPDATER screen appears, release [STOP] and [REC].
    When the message "Update System ?" appears, press [ENTER]. Then, the update process will start.
    * Never switch off the power while the message "Now Writing..." is displayed.
    When the message "COMPLETE !!" appears, the update has finished.
    Turn the BR-80 power off.
    Please verify the version number "1.04" with the procedure described in "How to tell the version" part of this document.
    Delete the update files from the SD memory card for the normal usage.

Just updated my BR-80 to version 1.04 and now my 16GB SD card works properly and records in 'Live Record' mode.

A new v1.06 update for the firmware is available..

can the br80 use a micro sd card fitted into an sd card adaptor?
Fundamentally, it should work i guess....but wanted to know if anyone
here has been using it that way

I have updated to 1.06 now, no perceivable differences observed.

Not tried the mini SD with an adapter, but i see no reason for it to not work, so long as the card write speed is up to spec for the BR-80
