Many are concerned about the devastating Earthquake which occurred in Japan.

Some of you may know, our VGuitarForums site Administrator: "MCK" is based in Tokyo, and I'm happy to report he and his family are shaken, but doing OK.

There are indications that radiation may be leaking from damaged reactors due to failed cooling systems.

If you want to see a stream from Japan on what's happening there see TBStv and tune in.

My Japanese isn't nearly fast enough to catch their rapidfire dialogue but I get every few words!

Anyone hear how Roland is doing over there?  Did any of their facilities get hit?

Thanks for all your kind words & wishes. We are all safe. I hope all other forum members from Japan and their families are safe as well.

It was a horrible experience that I wish to never go through again. The scenes of water moving over flat farmlands carrying everything it has picked up along the way and slowly swallowing the people trying to outrun it in their cars will stay with me forever. We are still shaking with the regular aftershocks and it will take some time to settle. The nuclear power station topic is a bit worrying but I am sure they will get it under control soon.

On a positive note though, I am once again very impressed with the various engineering disciplines that played a role in keeping us alive through this ordeal. Our building and many others like it swayed from side to side like a weak little tree and managed to remain intact. Trains carrying millions of people safely stopped. Internet remained up so we could communicate with the world and be heard if we needed urgent help. My hat goes off to all those who made this possible and continue to help through the ordeal.

Oh, Roland... I checked their locations. I imagine their main sites should be ok. I think they may have a few sales offices up north that might be affected but hopefully not in a massive way.

Hi MCK,

My heart goes out to Japan. I just can't imagine the devastation, and people lost. Japan is such a vibrant, amazing place we owe so much to.

I am so glad you and family are personally safe.

I am in admiration of the Japanese dedication to preparedness for disaster. Dedicated engineers and leaders taking the threats very seriously have at least lessened the damage done.

My prayers are with you.

I notice that Roland Japan posted an announcement a couple of weeks ago about the earthquake and tsunami damage but it remains to be seen whether or not the damaged nuclear reactors will further affect anything (as a Tokyo resident I certainly hope not  :-\  ) .

Peace
