In the GT-10 there was an option to write preamps into system 1-3 slots, so that if a system preamp was selected it would apply to all patches.

In the GT-001 the choices show up in the drop down (under Preferences), but no way to write them into the system slots.  Does that mean that if one selects "System 1" if automatically writes (selects) the current preamp setting into that slot where it remains until changed?

Thanks

When you select a system preamp,
then use the EFFECT Preamp A or B parameter changes, they are automatically written to the system preamp.
Those parameter settings that were changed are then the same across all user patches.

That's what I thought (I tried a couple of examples).  I sure wish my GT-1 had the system preamp options - maybe the new updates from Boss will add these... (doubtful, but I can wish...)

Some of you may have read the Katana thread, and heard about the "Sneaky Amps",
a subset of hidden (GT-100 type) features built into the Katana, which can be accessed by special editing software.

I have just made a GT-1 equivalent here (windows only so far)
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fxfloorboard/files/experimental/

Not all functions work  - but feel free to explore

I installed Floorboard for my GT-1, but I get an "error reading system" message, and bad data if I hit "Auto Sync", no patches are loaded into the program ("bad data" in all the slots), and I get a "Bulk loading" message that never finishes".  Midi is set to GT-1, Version 1.07, and Tone Studio works fine....

The GT-1 editor is currently in an experimental stage, where it has all the GT-100/GT-001 parameters at hand, and sending them in a GT-1 format.
At this stage, it can not read any info from the GT-1, but can send parameters, to see what sneaky features are available beyond the GT-1 GUI controls.

Suggestion is to try the "Custom" Preamp

The GT-001 FxFloorBoard editor is a better option for the GT-001.

Hi Colin,

Quick question:

I have a GT-001 arriving tomorrow and I'd like to use it with my Katana 100 1x12.  Specifically using my usb midi foot controller to input patches etc and then output to the Katana with FxFloorboard.  Is this possible? If so what Midi in/out would I select in the
GT-001FxFloorboard prefs?

Thanks

Steve

Name the Make / model of your USB Foot controller

also understand most USB MIDI foot controllers can not talk to another USB device without a Computer or USB Host to MIDI adapter

Why cant i just use a MIDI Foot controller with a USB connection?

Because all MIDI foot controllers with USB connection I know ( as well as the Boss GP-10, Boss GT-001, Fishman Tripleplay, Line6 FBV Shortboard MKII are:
USB Client (EndPoint) devices

The USB Bus requires One device to act as USB HOST Device - and those are typically computers
http://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/49140/what-exactly-are-the-difference-between-a-usb-host-and-device

The USB Host port initiates all communication on the USB bus, the USB Endpoint device only responds when asked by the USB Host. For Details see the specs on usb.org.
http://www.usb.org/developers/docs/devclass_docs/

(And tell anyone you know (Marketing Manager's, etc) to study the USB Specification before they vote to omit the 5pin DIN MIDI I/O jacks from new gear just to save $2.00 cost.

I have the Line 6 FBV Shortboard 2 and intend to use it with a PC running GT-001 FxFloorboard, so thought as I would be using the computer it could work?

I know I'm tied to the PC but I prefer standing when playing guitar so selecting patches using foot controller helps that.

the GT-001FxFloorBoard editor won't read midi foot controller data,
so you will need some other midi routing/pass thru application to connect the Foot controller USB-Midi.
Like MidiYoke or Bomes Midi Translator

Ok, thanks Colin.

Sorry , one more thing:

Do I just select Midiyoke 1 as my midi output and Katana as my midi input, or is there more to it?

I need clarity on this because I've read that Midi Feedback is not a good thing.!  Many Thanks

gumtown

you need to run midiox, set the in/out midi devices (options > midi devices),
then open the "view > port routings" and 'draw the connections from Katana >  midi controller device,
sometimes it might need to be routed through Yoke 1

Hi Colin,

Getting the GT001 Floorboard to populate the patch tree correctly but when it finishes it immediately crashes.

I have the following set up:

Win 10 64 bit.

The latest version of Floorboard (20170518)

Midi in : GT-001 , Midi Out: GT-001  (any other settings I get no reply error in the patch tree locations)

Debug On, Auto Select GT-001 USB on

Probably something simple I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Here is what BTS for GT-001 suggests for the MIDi I/O connection:

https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/BTS_GT_e03_W.pdf

If availabe - try "GT-001 CTRL" for the MIDi I/O connection in Gumtowns GT-001 Editor

( Avoid the "GT-001 DAW"  connection.

Tried that Elantric, still crashes after patch tree populates. I hope I'll get there eventually  :-\

Dejavu..
I will check this out next week,
probably some patch or system parameter's range that the editor may have not encountered until now.

So you are using the system preamp?
