Has anyone managed to record with the usb output on katana into linux successfully ?

Does anyone know what the sample rate and bit rate should be set to or if it will work on linux ?

In audacity I can see the katana input which I select, but then when I hit record it just sits their waiting for data. I'm using Linux Mint 18 with alsa and pulseaudio intalled (but not jack). Pulseaudio sees the katana as having four channels.

I can get gt fx floorboard to work ok via usb on linux - just not recording digital audio from the usb.

I have never done it - but "on paper" if you use a Linux Distro tham employs ALSA or JACK AUDIO  - there should be controls where you "see" the Katana as a Audio device after connecting it via USB

(not all versions of Linux support  ALSA or JACK AUDIO

I've had another look and it pops up as a device but I think pulseaudio only sees it as a midi device. Alsa mixer also doesn't have any audio mixing sliders appearing for its katana hardware. Could be a driver issue ? Going to try a later kernel and see if that has the driver in it....maybe its proprietary and they haven't been able to add it ? Not a huge problem 'cause I can always use the line out into the pc's line in.

for Roland /Boss gear on Linux - We are at the mercy the open source Linux ALSA audio driver that someone who owned an Edirol UA-25 added support in the open source ALSA driver years ago

http://alsa.opensrc.org/Edirol_UA-25

There is no official Katana Linux Audio driver or Katana MIDI Driver
Its a bit of a fluke of dumb luck that Katana communicates  MIDI I/O on Linux ( and recent versions of Android )  - all thanks to the Edirol UA-25 Audio / MIDI support in ALSA

I figure Katana Audio "non-functioning" on Linux with ALSA is due to the Katana NOT being a basic 2 channel Input  /  2 channel Output audio device

If you read the Katana USB driver ( Win/Mac) "README" file -
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=19476.0

it covers the details of the Katana's Audio 4 in / 4 out audio paths and reamping

It indeed does not work. I've filed a bug for it here.

Pretty sure this is a driver issue, but have not found out how to resolve it or even go about fixing the drivers.

This should be possible quite soon. Support was added a while ago and it is in the 5.4.0 Linux kernel.
