Phil X, Pete Thorn, GUITCON 2017 (video)
QuoteHey y'all
Been trying to sit down with my Canadian geetar brother Phil forever- we finally did it! I was so happy with how this went- lots of stories and guitar tricks and licks in this one hour video! The GuitCon gathering of guitarists, YouTube folks, and manufacturers was so cool, I have a ton of great vids to edit and release, but I had to get this one out there first.

More to come! And sorry, the tones are clipping a bit and rather harsh- this is what happens when you don't have control over the way things are being recorded sometimes, I guess. But I think you'll agree it doesn't really matter. We will do better next time though. Hope u dig it!

OH and- we swear lots. Be forewarned as this was offensive to some. I dunno, we are rockers ya know, not schoolteachers?

Pete Thorn's gear demos are superb. He sure can play...and he writes wonderful demo compositions. It's cool too when he runs through each part in isolation.

Mike Hermans is another fave.

Not forgetting Bill's Effectology series!

restricting the low Frequency content with a High pass Filter is a common strategy to obtain a smoother guitar amp distortion

Many 1960's Blues musicians used an Arbitor RangeMaster Treble Booster between Guitar and Amplifier

The exact frequency of the low-cut will depend on the slope of the filter (and the guitar itself).
This does wonders to clean up... and tighten up the bottom end."

Never new treble boosters were used that way. Roger McGuinn had a treble booster built in to his Rickenbacker 12 string in the mid '60s to pump up the high end jangle. I use a Janglebox on mine for the same effect (also adds compression).

Didn't know where to put this one but hey....this looks handy if you record guitars through amps.
