Title: Play multi-track (WAV) to ASIO device?
Post by: vtgearhead on June 17, 2017, 03:27:21 PM
I must be missing something when forming search terms, but I'm unable to find an application that can simply play (for example) 8 tracks of WAV files to 8 channels of an ASIO output interface on Windows.  Currently trying to practice using a Behringer X18 for live FOH mix and thought it would be useful to play a multitrack of my band through Ch 1-8 and play around with that while listening to CUE out on the Behringer through phones.

Could not figure out anyway to do this sort of routing on my Presonus Studio One 2 DAW, but figured there must be a simple Windows app somewhere.  I tried Google on "play multi-track recording to ASIO output" and came up with nothing that seemed on point.

I'm not aware of any stand alone app but my suggestion would be to try Mixbus, it does have 8 busses that can be routed to any phisical output. (Plus, of course, the master out L/R). It costs 79$ but the demo should do the trick.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!  After banging a flat-spot in my head most of the day, I finally discovered that the rather oddball "Tracktion T6" DAW (free license came with Behringer X18) was able to route tracks directly out the ASIO interface.  The less said about the T6 UI, the better.  Totally counter-intuitive and carefully designed to make the simplest things extremely difficult.  But, take my comments with a grain of salt because I tend to think all UIs are wretched.
