Hello guys,
During these last days, I'm thinking to buy the OCTA-CAPTURE, does anyone be experienced with it ?
I'd be very curious about the capabilities of the Direct Mixer software included.

Let me know

thanks

Roland made both the first-ever USB audio-interface (Roland UA-100) that the first audio multi-channel USB 2 interface, Edirol UA-1000, in far 2003 (while other brands bet on Firewire). The Edirol UA-1000 has a latency of 3.3 ms on PC (I can confirm).

Roland Octa-capture/Quad-capture should have a latency of 1,1 ms.

QuoteThe ASIO drivers worked very well with Cubase SX 1.06, running the 'FiveTowers' 2.0 CPU torture test with 6.5ms latency at 44.1kHz,

To obtain lower latency with Roland /Boss gear requires running at 96kHz or 192kHz , which the 2003 Roland UA1000 USB Audio Interface supports.

However the Roland /Boss VGuitar gear does not run at those rates, instead VG-99 / GR-55  GP-10 are all fixed at 44.1kHz

And I never trust the DAW reported latency  -
Instead I only trust the latency measurement method described here

I agree and have done similar tests for years, finally is my ear and perception what I really trust of how much delay is there. As a tip and although it seems very obvious, it is advisable to check the active plugins used in the out process chain in your DAW.  When I'm close to a final or to mastering, I could forget that something like for example a Wave L2 Maximizer is active in the MASTER OUT channel in my Cubase, which could use considerable resources, and if I have to play some virtual synthesizer or processed guitar in real-time , latency will increase and will never be as reported in the audio system card info. I remember myself it happened in an important recording session and when I realized what was happening, I felt such shame and anger as the 15 ms of extra latency added by a noise reduction plugin needlessly active in the guitar group track.

The whole quote is:
Quote"The ASIO drivers worked very well with Cubase SX 1.06, running the 'FiveTowers' 2.0 CPU torture test with 6.5ms latency at 44.1kHz, and the lowest 3.3ms setting with the less demanding 'Heaven And Hell' demo"
Without mention of 96 kHz.

Any experience with GP-10 (or VG-99) + "1,1ms audio-interface" Roland Octa-capture (audio and/or midi out)?

Which one? - because they are very different latency

The highest latency remains the Guitar to MIDI conversion on the lowest notes.

the Fishman Tripleplay  Guitar to MIDI conversion is faster than GR-55 or GP-10 or VG-99

We have measurements here

QuoteNo Roland  / Boss gear I know will ever match the low round trip DAW audio latency of RME gear.

QuoteBut typical  Roland  / Boss round-trip Audio latency on a well setup DAW on a Mac OSX Core Audio USB driver  is  5.2ms at 44.1kHz  - for audio alone.

If I have not misread Your link, Your RME promises 1,5ms of audio-latency, Roland Octa-capture promises 1,1ms.
