A small sound card note: The new MOTU AVB series works great using the CCK.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

I was trying to hold off getting a new iPad till the new Pro comes out next year. But now need one ASAP . Is there any advantage/disadvantage between iPad Air and Air2. Help I need to do something today. Thanks Paul ???

whippinpost91850

Allmost pulled the trigger tonight,  on the iPad air I found, But not sure if I should get the Air2 for $50 more. Surely the iPad pro when it comes out will have ios8 or something newer. What to do ! What to do! ??? ??? ???

Elantric

Whatever you do - avoid a 16GB ipad

Not much improvement in an Air2

And worth the wait for May 2015 for Ipad Pro 12 "

Id get a IPad Mini 2 Retina 32GB for $275 at Best Buy

Theres never a need to sell the old ipad  - and you will always use the old one

whippinpost91850

Yeah, thought about that but the smaller screen will not work with set list maker, for me. No, wouldn't touch the 16 , was thinkin the 64gb. But your right I've been able to live with out SLM up until a couple of months ago, It may just be wisw to wait,. I can also live with out Bias, Jamup ,tonestack, and Garage band for awhile.

This is news I've been waiting for for a long, long time.  And it looks like the wait is going to be worth it.  If all this works as advertised (which WaveMachineLabs has a good track record of delivering on), this will be a game changer.  Again.

QuoteI'm still confused as to why you need the camera adapter in between the 24 bit interface and the iPad

Its true many Lightning cable equipped Audio interfaces also charge the connected iPad during use,  but there is no need to purchase a special "Apple mFI Approved" 24bit Audio interface with the Apple Lightning  cable support just to get excellent audio into your iPad /iPhone.

For the best iPad Audio interface, to record a full band with clean 24bit audio, Review the dozens of Auria Daw approved  USB Class Compliant Audio  / MIDI interfaces
http://auriaapp.com/Support/auria-audio-interfaces
(Many support 24 channels! - "CCK" = "Camera Connection Kit" a.k.a. "USB Camera Adapter"))

I'm just playing around with the IPad Pro and Auria Pro nothing serious. It runs like butter I love this screen. I don't have the apple pencil yet but a cheap dollar stylus works so great.

What kind of audio interfaces work with Auria?

Auria supports two main categories of audio hardware, the iPad's built-in internal I/O (Speaker, Mic, and 3.5mm headphone mini-jack), and external audio interfaces connected through the 30-pin MFi port (either directly or through the Camera Connection Kit, which enables USB devices).

What are the iPad's built-in options?

Speaker
Microphone
3.5mm mini-jack – Includes both mono input plus stereo out.

What kinds of external devices can be used?

Auria supports external audio interfaces through the 30-pin dock connector (or MFi).  There are two types of devices which can be connected through this port:

MFi - These interfaces connect directly to the 30-pin MFi connector. One popular example is the Apogee Jam.
USB Class 2 Compliant interfaces - These require an Apple Camera Connection Kit connected between the iPad and interface. Examples include the RME Fireface UCX, Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL, and the Focusrite Scarlett series interfaces. See our Interfaces page for more information.

Auria is not recording any incoming audio with iOS 7.

iOS 7 can block all audio inputs (from both the microphone and from interfaces) to an app unless it is specifically allowed. When first opening an app under iOS7 a pop-up asks, "Auria would like to access the microphone." If "Don't Allow" is selected then all audio input to Auria is blocked. To fix this open iPad Settings, go to General, then Privacy, then Microphone. Find Auria in the list and enable access by tapping the slider so it is green.
