Loudspeakers Energize Three Stages

Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, CA -- (September 6, 2016) — On September 9, 2016, Roland will premiere their first ever, 24-hour online music festival, "The Future. Redefined," which will debut more than 30 Roland products via streaming video broadcasts from Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Brussels, Paris, Tokyo and other major cities around the world starting at 4:00pm UTC.  This unique musical instrument festival will span six time zones and feature live performances, new product debuts and demonstrations and interviews with leading artists. Roland chose QSC as the preferred PA system for the event and will feature QSC speakers on three stages including the KLA 12 active line array loudspeaker systems, KW181 18" powered subwoofers, K10 and K12 active loudspeakers and  KSub dual 12" active subwoofers.

During Roland's festival on September 9 (#909day), the company will debut new synthesizers, digital pianos, electronic drums, DJ equipment, BOSS guitar-related products, accessories, and a new genre of musical instrument never offered before by Roland.

"'The Future. Redefined.'  was created by Roland to inspire musicians to unleash their creativity," says Roland Corporation U.S. President and CEO Jay Wanamaker. "We are delighted to have all the sounds of this festival delivered by QSC. They are a company who we know shares our passion to inspire and we have always been pleased with the sound quality when pairing Roland products with QSC loudspeakers."

"QSC is honored to partner with Roland in celebration of their worldwide musical instrument festival," says Ray van Straten, Senior Director of Marketing, QSC Professional. "QSC and Roland customers each value quality and superior performance, making this pairing of brands a very natural and rewarding experience for all. Boss GT-1 is $199 USD at B&H later today

Just a minor blip and nothing I can use

And Roland US CEO being a Drummer I expect him to direct more focus on percusion (VDrum, E Cajon)

I expect Roland V-Congas at 2017 Winter NAMM and a return to the Drum area in Hall D

There is a new V-Sax

( . )( . )

Lame...I'm sure it's got some cool features and sounds, but I want MORE switches, not less...guess I'm sticking with my GP-10 and ME-80.

The new Boss GT-1 looks very interesting because I want to upgrade my rig which includes a Boss ME-25 and the Roland V-Guitar pedals, so I thought that the Boss GT-001 would feed my needs but the problem is that you can't plug an EXP pedal and a footswitch and the GT-100 is too big for me, so the GT-1 has 3 footswitches and an EXP pedal. Now, I have to wait for the price.

Insane low price  :o How is it possible? Design/Production/Marketing/Packaging/Distribution/Resale profit etc. What numbers are we talking about?
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

QuoteInsane low price  :o How is it possible?

By controlling the Boss GT-1's Bill of materials and owning the manufacturing of a significant number of parts (Roland owns their own Metal  fab and Plastic Molding facility and can control the cost of the GT-1's chassis )
The Input Jack is the  Power Switch
The Roland ESC2 DSP IC that used to be $40.00 each back in 2012 i figure are now closer $6.00 each in 2016 and it was relatively straight forward for Boss Engineers to port the existing GT-100 / GT-001 DSP code to the GT-1 - I doubt there are any "new" FX exclusive to the GT-1 - if you want to know what the GT-1 is capable of  today - just download and re-read ALL the GT-001 Manual and GT-001 Parameter Guide.
https://www.boss.info/us/products/gt-001/support/

I know this because compare this page

http://bosstonecentral.com/liveset/category/gt/

to this page
http://bosstonecentral.com/liveset/category/gt-1/

The GT-1 lacks the GT-001's XLR Mic Pre and associated analog circuitry - so the GT-1 rear panel I/O is very similar to the Boss ME-80's  - probably shares the same AKM  CODEC IC as used in ME-80 ( $3.50)

I bet they already have 5,000 units being built as i write this , and Like ME-80, since its Battery powered on 6 AA Batteries I bet the Roland PSA AC Mains Power adapter is not included  I estimate the build cost is between $60-$70 -  thats how Roland  drives their overhead costs down and can sell it for $250 MSRP - $199 Street

Handy for the practice bag or a gig plan B unit.

It would be a winner if it had SD card slot to play backing tracks for noodling/practice.

This is a replacement for the ME-25.

The GT-1 is more attractive to me than the GT-001

But I protest no 5 pin MIDI I/O  , no USB Class compliant Drivers, no TRS Balanced outputs

Yes despite these short comings I'll probably still end up with one in my gig bag

It is 10000% more useful compared to the ME-25

.....

That makes way for
A: sudden price drops on new and used GT-001 and ME-25
B: discontinued GT-001 and ME-25 lines
