Back with a sore jaw (ow freakin' ow!):

Interfaces that work that I had the chance to test:
Focusrite Scarlet 2i4
Alesis I02
Roland VG-99
Boss RC-300

Interfaces that either require a new driver or are obsolete due to a lack of a new driver:
MIDIMan Midisport 2x2
M-Audio Fasttrack USB

Thanks again ASB! I also have a MIDISport 2x2 but VG99 it's also a MIDI in/out and if it works it can suffice for the moment. Midisport was not receiving updates to drivers long time... a case of abandon-ware.. it makes me sad when it happens..

Thanks for the VG99 test - I'm going to update this weekend now :-)

Warning if you use Protools
QuoteDon't Do It - It's Too Early
Even though there are a growing number of announcements so far on mac OS Sierra compatibility and there are a number of positive reports of people having success with Sierra, our advice is not to go there until Avid have approved it, all the plugin brands that you use, have approved it AND you have some downtime to do the update and deal with any issues.

VG99 + Logic Pro X
Should be ok

Yesterday I have installed sierra from scratch on an external drive.
I have booted my 2013 iMac from that drive and installed all drivers / software.

BEWARE : This is different than upgrading from an existing previous version of Mac OS X.

I have tested the following hardware/software:

VG99   Driver works and can be installed**
VG99   Editor works**
VG99   Librarian works**

** sierra mechanism of gatekeeping has changed. Your not allowed anymore to install from any source.
You'll receive a message and then you have to open security preferences and allow that package to install.
I have done so with El Capitan packages

Novation Launchpad Works
Novation Launchpad USB Driver 2.7 installed, works

M-AUDIO K61e USB Class compliant - Works

FCA202 Behringer Audio FW400. It works, no driver required

Ableton Live 9.5 demo version, it works.

I have tested for a couple of hours and all was stable.
Only one drop out in Ableton Live during play from VG99 USB Audio but it might be me doing a lot of things at the same time.

I have more to test and I'll let you know after testing.

Hope it helps
Best

Regarding the Gatekeeping - it's similar to that of Mavericks.

Basically go to the Apple Menu and pull down to System Preferences.
Then Select Security and Privacy

Then notice below:

At the bottom "Allow apps downloaded from:"  - select "Anywhere" to regain the original functionality in all the Mac versions prior to this.

Positive Grid's solutions are no doubt great, but it seems they tripped up with macOS Sierra, and have not updated their site to say otherwise at this point.

If yours works fine, please let me know, but my experience is as follows:

The software worked great on OSX El Capitan, but only Bias Amp is working properly on macOS Sierra.
Issues with Bias FX on Sierra:
UI texture and text anomalies making it difficult to read, and buttons do not display properly.
Channel outputs do not have a soft switch, and cause loud speaker pops.
Switching channels can sometimes crash the application.
Switching presets can result in no sound / crash, and require application restart.
Switching presets and/or relaunching the application sometimes results in different volume intensities.
I contacted their support, and unfortunately the response I received was less than eager to help. After multiple attempts to explain the need to notify their developers and attempt to get an ETA, I was informed they would work on it. The website's changelog does say that it already was corrected to support macOS Sierra, but this is not true.

For the time being, I am utilizing the iPad version instead, but the pedals are all additional purchases. They are unwilling to perform any sort of refund of the near $400 spent on the pro versions for Amp and FX in order to offset purchases on the iPad. Instead, this was the reply I received.

QuoteWe are sorry that so far we can only provide vouchers for desktop products. If there's anything you would like to try after we fix up this issue, please let us know. We're willing to provide a $20 discount for the product you're interested in, and also a one-week trial.

Please let us know if we can help further with that!

Best regards,
Maines

While I do appreciate some attempt, it is really just an offer for a coupon on a new purchase, rather than try to resolve the issue at hand.

Hopefully this helps others who would have otherwise made the purchase when they are running Sierra.

Elantric

UAD have issued an email that they are NOT MacOS Sierra compatible, the software doesn't work with sierra. They are releasing a band aid fix next month and an official release by 2017.

Pasha, when you say "VG 99 Driver works and can be installed", do you mean the way as suggested by aliensporebomb?

Thanks

Alfredo,

I installed all the VG99 El Capitan material into a fresh Sierra installation. If I am not wrong ASB did an upgrade, which sometimes preserves drivers between versions. Doing a fresh it's better to test if the drivers and software can be installed, although a fresh install it's very invasive.

Correct.  I did do an upgrade from ElCap to Sierra on both partitions.  Each time the VG-99 continued working.

Hope that helps.

Apple Buys Shazam to Boost Apple Music
By Adam Satariano  and Lizette Chapman
December 11, 2017, 9:15 AM PST Updated on December 11, 2017, 10:48 AM PST
Shazam has close ties to Apple, integrated into Siri in 2014
Purchase price of about $400 million may disappoint backers

Photographer: Simon Dawson/Bloomberg
Apple Inc. agreed to acquire music-identification service Shazam, taking ownership of one of the first apps to demonstrate the power of the iPhone, recognizing songs after hearing just a few bars of a tune.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but a person familiar with the situation said Apple is paying about $400 million for the U.K.-based startup. That would be one of Apple's largest acquisitions ever, approaching the size of its 1996 purchase of Next Computer Inc. which brought co-founder Steve Jobs back to the company. That transaction would be worth more than $600 million in today's dollars.

The deal announced Monday will be a disappointment for some of Shazam Entertainment Ltd.'s investors, including Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim and venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Institutional Venture Partners and DN Capital Ltd. The 18-year-old company, which has required twice the average time to deliver an exit for backers, was valued at about $1 billion when it closed its last funding round in 2015.

"A company isn't worth a billion dollars until it's sold or exited. Many of these so-called unicorns are of course fakies," Mark Tluszcz, co-founder of VC firm Mangrove Capital Partners and chairman of website building service Wix.com Ltd. "They will face their day of reckoning and may turn out to be a disappointment. The case of Shazam will serve as a stark warning to other companies."

The Shazam app uses the microphone on a smartphone or computer to identify almost any song playing nearby, then points users to places they can listen to it in future, such as Apple Music or Google's YouTube.

While Shazam has been popular with customers, it struggled turning its clever music service into a business that justified its valuation. It expanded beyond simple audio recognition in 2010 by adding capabilities that let television viewers "Shazam" an ad, which would then open a promotion from the advertiser on a user's device. The company said this feature was used 700,000 times during the 2014 Super Bowl broadcast.

"Apple Music and Shazam are a natural fit, sharing a passion for music discovery and delivering great music experiences to our users," Apple said in an emailed statement on Monday. "We have exciting plans in store, and we look forward to combining with Shazam upon approval of today's agreement."

In November, Shazam had about 175 million monthly active users globally across iOS and Android, according to research firm App Annie. The U.S. is the largest single market, with about 20 million active users in November, while the U.K. had about 4 million in the same month.

"Since the launch of the App Store, Shazam has consistently ranked as one of the most popular apps for iOS," Apple also said. "Today, it's used by hundreds of millions of people around the world, across multiple platforms."

The acquisition would help Apple embed that capability more deeply into its music offerings. The company's digital assistant Siri gained Shazam integration in 2014, so users could ask it what song is playing in the background.

Just started down the path of using my Mac (Sierra) for music. No luck with Pro Tools 11 (audio import crashes), and Sierra doesn't appear to have Avid's blessing for v11 anyway. Going to pony up for Logic Pro instead. My goals are to at least get Omnishpere v1 and East West Orchestral working. I got them both installed in a fashion similar to this:  https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6859001 (East West player uses a huge sound library directory same as Omnisphere). I'd really like to get Cakewalk Dimension Pro installed - have a project to port over with some great patches from Dimension Pro - but I think I'll have to find alternatives for them.
