For a long time, I avoided any Thunderbolt interfaces with only one port. I didn't want to give up my ability to use a monitor on the same buss. So I didn't even consider the UA Apollo Twin interface.

Then I realized that with my Cal Digit TB hub, I could connect the monitor via the HDMI port on the hub. Since the hub has two ports, I can add any device at the end of the TB buss with a single port. Problem solved.

This trick should work with any TB hub that has an HDMI port. Note that only one non-TB monitor will work on a buss. You need a pair TB monitors  (Apple or LG) to connect two monitors on a single TB buss. I've only tried this on a Mac.
