Brand & Model: GE USB 2.0 rotating hub (4 port) 97847 Rev1

Status: RECOMMENDED

Computer Type & O/S: ASUS T100TA-C1-GR,  Windows 8.1

Computer USB Port type Method/Speed: Micro USB (USB 2.0) via Samsung EPL-AU10WEGXAR micro USB/USB Connector

Powered Hub Power Supply Types used: (NONE)

Connected Devices: GR-55

Comments: working with Gumtown's GR-55 Floorboard. This is a fairly small 4-port hub that I picked up on clearance at Target for $1. It can be externally powered, but I have used it to run Floorboard without external power and had no issues. Seems to be out of production, but I have seen them as recently as last month in the local Ocean State Job Lot closeout store.

I tried connecting the GR-55 to the USB 3.0 port on the ASUS T100 keyboard, and as expected it did NOT recognize the GR-55 when connected.

Computer USB Port type Method/Speed: Apple Lighting Camera Adapter (USB 2.0)

Powered Hub Power Supply Types used: generic 2.5Amp USB Supply,

Connected Devices: FocususRite Scarlett 2i4, Fishman Tripleplay

Comments: This hub used to work great with my old 30 pin iPad 2 with IOS 5-6, but now with IOS7, it does not work  - all I get are the typical Apple IOS :Warning pop message  messages that the connected "USB device uses too much power", and if I click OK - nothing happens, and the iPad must be rebooted before any other attempt at a USB connection can be established.

This one might be my top favorite (at this hour) Powered USB Hub for iPad on IOS7,  it was a joy to have three Korg Nano Kontrollers, FTP, and Scarlett 2i4 all running at the same time on my iPad Air. The individual on/off switches for each port saves wear and tear on the USB Jacks, and helps big time while debugging IOS USB problems.

Note from tomtheguitarguy  - Avoid the 4 port version of this Hub

QuoteI've got one of these hubs (the 4 hub version) and for some reason, it's not working with the FTP.  I plug the hub into the CCK or Lightning USB and it lights up, but the lights just continue to blink on the FTP and they don't pair.  Doesn't matter if I'm using the AC adapter or not...

Comments: It actually worked - but eventually every  3 -5 minutes I would experience temporary USB data connection loss  - and random audio drop outs which took 5 seconds for the audio to make a new USB data connection again  - so its not recommended. Since this USB Hub Includes a non qualified Lightning port I suspect the culprit is the Apple mFI qualified External Hardware check routine in latest IOS 7. but this is only a  theory. The latest Apple mFI spec requires the third party vendors to use apple supplied mFI verification ICs in their hardware designs - and this Lightning 4 port HUB does not have one.

This is a Powered USB 2.0 "Sharing Hub" with 7 ports.

VAKOSS USB 2.0 HUB P/N# TC-271-AA 7 Port High Speed Hub

These are getting rare and no longer in production - but there are a few left on Ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-VAKOSS-USB-2-0-HUB-TC-271-AA-7-Port-High-Speed-Hub-USED-Great-Item-/190854801897?_trksid=p2054897.l4276

It is mentioned here:
http://www.simonclivehughes.com/Simon_C._Hughes_Photography/Simon_Sez/Entries/2013/4/16_Makin_Music_in_2013.html

And seems perfect for those sharing mulitple USB Class compliant Devices between iPad and a PC/Mac

Okay this is a cheapo 7-port hub I bought at MicroCenter last week. Cost me $15. There is no brand name on the hub, and I don't recall the brand name on the packaging, which is long-gone by now. Chances are it can be found under a variety of brand names anyway. I've tried it out with my Alesis iO2 only so far and it works just fine syncing the iO2 up with the iPad.

Here is a no-flash pic of the hub plugged into my iPad Air. Say, isn't Amplitube supposed to rotate? Mine won't. As you can see, the hub's blue LED is really bright. This doesn't have all the separate on-off switches like Elantric's, and in fact, two of the seven ports are stacked up at the top of the hub.

I used my camera's flash for this shot:

And here's a shot of the backside of the hub, showing the only text on the entire device.

Best,
Michael

QuoteHere is a no-flash pic of the hub plugged into my iPad Air. Say, isn't Amplitube supposed to rotate? Mine won't.

Thats because you installed the iPhone version of Amplitube on your iPad Air - see the small round (1X) view toggle on the lower right corner of the screen

The iPad version is here: (sold separately)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amplitube-for-ipad/id373750924?mt=8

But I do not recommend IK Multimedia IOS Amplitube for users of External USB Class Compliant Audio Interfaces - Amplitube does not work for me with any of my USB Audio interfaces when used with powered Hub and Apple CCK.

Use Positive Grid Bias instead.

Actually, I didn't install that copy of amplitube. The iCloud transferred over all my ikm stuff. It's all the free ikm stuff, anyway. I got a special activated copy of amplitube and sample tank with my 2014 upgrade of Band in a Box, so I don't need to be Paying for an iPad copy. Besides the iPod version that's there now doesn't sound half bad. I've owned amps that sounded much worse.

I suppose one good thing about using the iPod/iPhone version is it does work with an audio interface, powered USB hub, apple cck, and iPad, no problem.

That grid one in the link sounds like an awesome emulator. Looks pretty interesting with all the controls and settings too.

Best,
Michael

Does anyone know the polarity of the power supply needed for this hub. I'm guessing it would 5V but not sure of the polarity.

BackDAWman

Thanks for that Steve! I actually found a USB to DC power connector lead and plugged it into a USB charger type wall wart. I lucked out on the polarity and it worked! It saves the drain on the iPad's power. :D

Hi
I bought three eForCity 7-Port USB Hus with the on/off switches.
And I got three DC Coax plug to USB adapter cables to Power the eForcity 7 Port USB Hubs.
I plug them direct into my Mac Pro.  The blue on/off lights turn on but that's the extent of them working.  I can't get my mouse or external HD to work in them.   Do you know what the problem is??    :o
Thank you.

Because the EforCity Powered USB Hubs are USB 2.0 and only recommended for IOS devices for audio / MIDI devices  - not  recommended for MacBooks running OSX or use with Hard drives!

You need a Powered USB 3.0 Hub - I have good results with Pluggable and Ankar USB 3.0 Hubs

This USB Hub works well with iPhone/iPad and includes the 5VDC to USB adapter cable - I use a separate external 5VDC Battery pack to power this and all my USB Audio  / MIDI Peripherals connected to iPad ( FTP, Arturia Beastep, Focusrite 2i4)

Numark Production Hub | Data Transfer & Surge-Protection Power Strip with 6 AC Outs & 5 Ports (1 2.1A + 4 USB 3.0)

https://www.amazon.com/Numark-Production-Hub-Transfer-Surge-Protection/dp/B01LEZMQRY/ref=sr_1_63?ie=UTF8&qid=1541982550&sr=8-63&keywords=can+bus+controller

Numark's Production Hub is the power strip you need to handle all of your equipment—old and new.

First, it protects your delicate electronics with a high-voltage surge and transient suppressor, plus a radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter.

Need to get lots of data onto your computer from different sources? Production Hub provides full-speed data communications over USB 3.0, with a 4-port USB 3.0 hub that offers computer/peripheral data connectivity and device charging. A fifth USB port is a dedicated 5V 2.1A charging port, for even greater convenience.

Altogether, you can power 11 pieces of equipment at the same time, with six AC outlets and five USB ports.

Finally, the six-foot cord means it'll always be in reach when you need it.

Connections
(6) Outlets: Connect your AC devices here to provide power to them.
(4) USB 3.0 Data/Charging Ports: Connect your devices here to charge them. Alternatively, use this as a hub to connect your devices to a computer
(1) USB 2.1A Charging Port: Connect devices such as smartphones, tablets, media players, etc. here to charge them.
(1) USB 3.0 to PC: Use a USB cable to connect this port to your computer. When connected, any devices connected to the USB 3.0 Data/Charging Ports are connected to your computer. Port is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

JIMMYJ WROTE>
I would like to report that the Wavlink USB TYPE C  4 port hub https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017N3KNP8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 works on my Dell Thunderbolt 3 port. So far the Focusrite 6i6, Axon Ax50, Roland Gi20, Liquid Foot Pro 24 and Keith Mcmillen 12 step all work through this hub. I did buy a power supply for this hub before I tried any of the interfaces. The only thing that doesn't work so far is the Midisport 2x2 anniversary edition interface. The Focusrite 6i6 seems to be as fast on this hub loaded down as plugged straight into the laptop but I need to do more testing on this to be sure . The Anker 7 port usb 3.0 A7505112 hub recommended in another post by admin also works for most of these interfaces except the Midisport if your using the usb 3.0 port on your computer.
