Ive owned a BCR-2000 for a while (currently in storage), purchased it with the Goal of using it to Edit VG-88 Patches live.

Be sure to research all the BCR-2000 resources on the net

Best one is BC Manager

as Berk, the developer of BC Manager points out :
So considering the abt. 3750 hours it has taken me to develop BC Manager, my earnings currently stand at about $0.10 per hour.

Hi! Just seen this thread, I own a BCF that use as a mixer controller but never thought in using it with the VGs. I am thinking in buying a BCR to have more control over VSTs while playing live, and it is great to know I could use it to control the sound of the VGs as well!

Interesting been thinking about buying the BCR for the last week!

Cheers

Hi, before buying the BCR2000 I did some research and got into the Novation LaunchControl XL. The only thing is that it does not have motorised faders and knobs, but its light, quite smart, and in a good price. I am considering this one instead of the BCR2000 as it also have faders. Seems a good option to control live. It does not have midi in outs, but I believe I could use a usb-midi cable to connect it to the VGs or GR.

Anything with USB requires a computer with USB drivers installed to run the USB part of the device, you can't plug 2 USB devices together - it won't work.
This is where you may have heard talk about the Raspberry Pi (RPi), a miniature linux computer, preconfigured to route USB midi from one device through to another.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

Gumtown, thanks so much. I did not know about that. I thought I would be able to use a USB to midi cable to control hardware synths, but now that you mention this completely makes sense, USB is a computer protocol that needs drivers to work.

In that case the BCR2000 might be the best option I have! If you know any other alternative with knobs/faders, do not hesitate to let me know! :)

REGARDS!!

How about a second BCF2000? :)

Seems like it has what you're looking for.  I've never tried this but a lot of DAWs seem to support multiple BCF2000s as well - to control 16 track faders, etc.  Or possibly you could run one in MIDI mode on a DAW (VST control) and one in HUI mode (track fader, pan control).  And use it in MIDI mode with VG/GR when not in use with your DAW.

Other MIDI Knob Controllers are listed  here

and old Novation X-Station can function as your Knob Controller and iPad 24bit Audio / MIDI interface

I use an old Novation Remote Zero SL with my DAW, terrific bit of kit when coupled with Automap BUT you can edit your own patches and make it send out any set of controller data. Would probably make a very good knobs and buttons front end for a guitar synth if I had the time to mess around with it more.
