Would adding a product like this help prevent a GKC cable from kinking?

How does the Gittler Instruments cable do with kinking compared to a Roland?

The Gittler cable is the best I've used so far. Solid connectors and kinks don't seem to be an issue like some of the Roland cables, however the last Roland cable I orered feels a lot more flexible than past versions. The Gittler's right-angle end is pretty convenient as well.

Parts Express is listed as a vendor for the tight-weave covering, but due to the size of the 13-pin connectors I would want the "wrap" type, which only seems to be available in the 3/4" and larger sizes.

I would buy a truckload of that stuff if it would repel our vocalist's feet. I wonder if they make a barbed-wire version..........

I would not think that the TechFlex product would help much at all (particularly with a use cable which has a pre-existing problem).

My personal experience is that the Gittler cable does not suffer from kinking problems to the extent that the Roland one does.

However, ALL cables give reasonable service if coiled properly from new (in the Under-Over method).....and you surround your bit of the stage with barbed wire...   ;D

Learn how to wrap your audio cables using over/under method is the superior known way of preventing cable kinks.

But if your GK 13 pin cable arrived wadded up and looked all like this when "new" there is not much hope of it lasting very long

If you wrap the cable properly - it should look like this during transport:

I've been using the under/over method for about 20 years, but I still have problems with the Roland cable.

Same here with the Planet Waves cable.

I also take good care of my cables and know how to coil them properly, I have guitar cables that are 20 years old that still look fine.

With some GK cables there is something about the shield layer that seems to cause this. The last four feet of my primary GK cable is starting to look like a coil cord!

I have also noticed that the construction of the Roland cables can vary based on when they are from and the length. I have one or two old short cables that are very flexible and nothing like the newer one that came with my GR-55. I suspect the shorter cables have less shielding leading to a more flexible cable.

I would point out that all Planet Waves cables today in 2016 are now older than 11 years old.

D'Addario / Planet Waves stopped making them in 2005

We know that Roland GK 13 pin cables vary in quality by a large margin.
the worst Roland Gk 13 cables  are the ones supplied "free" with the GR-55-GK / or GP-10GK which include the external GK-3

Today the best GK 13 pin cables are listed here:

Ah - I'm using with the one that came with the GP-10. I'll look in to getting a better one. I remember now that the one that came with my old GR-50 was much better.
