Hi,

I think this has been asked sometimes, but I would like to know the last update on this thing. How can I connect a normal guitar (without gk3) to my gr55?

I know the impedance issue, so... is there any commercially available cable with the pamp?

Thanks!

many just use a spare unmounted GK-3 and feed it's 1/4" Guitar input.

My GKMX-41 switcher have 1/4 input jacks & 13-pin. A couple of Wayne Joness products also have similar feature.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Many also use a modified Roland US-20 A/B/Y 13 pin selector box with added 1/4" Guitar I/O jacks

Thank you very much elantric :)

I think that the unmounted GK-3 is my best choice now, although I won't be able to use the tuner.

Any pictures of the unmounted GK-3 and feed its 1/4 input set up?

Not much to see really

Normal Guitar 1/4" Out >1/4" Input on GK-3 >13 pin cable >GK In on Roland/Boss processor.

You could velcro the GK-3 to a pedal board

The Gk-3 gets it power from GK In on Roland/Boss processor.

I've been trying to figure this out for a year! I do have the Gk3 and the GR55, my question is... what happens to the magnetic pickups? Does the sound go through the 1/4 inch without using the magnetic pickups for each string? (When added directly to the GR55) Another question... are there any problems with patches not working or any specific settings to be changed in order to get past the individual string pickups associated with the magnetic pickups from the gk3. I am really wanting to get the maximum use out of my GR55. Thank you so much for your help👍👍

Connect short cable between guitar and GK-3 1/4" Guitar input

Normal guitar signal is buffered by GK-3 and sent down the GK 13 pin cable to GK 13 pin input on  all GK Processors.

If you use a GK-3 guitar on stage or elsewhere and want to change to a non gk-guitar, plug it into the gk's 1/4 input. You might even go wireless with that other guitar, while the gk-guitar stands in its stand. (Don't forget to switch to the pu-setting on the gk) You can use all sounds wich don't require the gk-pu. This should work on all devices wich use the normal pu over the GK-3. So, if you have only one gk-equipped guitar for the gig, make sure to have all presets you need for normal pu's and your spare guitar.

Why use a spare when there is a mounted and connected one?

Because most guitarists own several electric guitars ,but most have no mounted GK-3 pickup

Roland omited the normal 1/4 guitar input on GR-55, as they did not want to hurt Boss GT-100 sales

Thus the whole point of this thread-  to document work arounds - Some do use the GR-55's  COSM AMP/CAB MODELING  and Effects for straight electric guitar tones - and skip the Synth
