DiPinto Guitars Unveils Line of US-Made Instruments

Press Release
January 14, 2017

Philadelphia, PA (January 11, 2017) -- After 20 years of building a respected name in retro guitars designed in the US and built overseas, DiPinto has decided to take the brand to a new level and bring all production back to America! We are working with a factory nearby our Philadelphia, PA headquarters, and we are unveiling our first line of USA made guitars at the 2017 NAMM show!

How will they be different?

USA guitars are American lightweight swamp ash. The bodies of Korean-made guitars were either basswood or mahogany (some early guitars were poplar, but they became too heavy.) Weight was often an issue no matter what wood was being used.

USA guitars have hard German frets.

USA guitars have 3-piece quartersawn maple necks, this is an improvement over our regular maple with weaker scarf joint at 3rd-1st fret.

USA guitars have US CTS pots. This is an upgrade from the mini pots we were previously using.

USA tone cap is vintage Soviet NOS cap.

USA finishes are smoother not so gloss/plastic looking and feeling.

USA craftsmanship is still the best. All bodies, necks, pickguard, fretboards, inlay, finishes, setup and wiring is done by USA workers.

Besides USA made plastic for guards, all the other parts are the same. Pickups, bridge, tremolo and tuners are all very well made and even sought after by Jazzmaster enthusiasts, so we chose to continue using them.

While our imported guitars ranged from $777-$1050, our American made instruments will retail between $1600 and $1800, keeping with the original idea of making top quality guitars that sell within the budget of a working musician.

USA Guitars can be ordered immediately.

NAMM 2017: Magma Vektor laptop stand
January 18, 2017 By Mark Settle

You can usually guarantee that a new laptop stand will appear at NAMM. And thanks to our old friends at Magma, the new Vektor fulfils those expectations perfectly.
It requires little explanation, but Magma has provided words nonetheless:
MAGMA debuts new LAPTOP-STAND VEKTOR at NAMM 2017
Wiehl, Germany, January 13, 2017:
Worldwide renown manufacturer of innovative and premium travel bags, cases & accessories for DJs is pleased is to announce a brand new portable Laptop-Stand that will be introduced during the 2017 Namm Show in Anaheim, California:
NEW: MAGMA LAPTOP-STAND VEKTOR
Premium portable laptop-stand designed for versatility
The new MAGMA VEKTOR LAPTOP-STAND is a sturdy and versatile foldaway DJ equipment stand designed to support a laptop, DJ-controller, or other production equipment like the Machine, Push 2 or Launchpad. It's a breeze to assemble and the extremely flexible design allows you to adjust the stand in infinite positions. Heights and angles are fully adjustable and allow it to be comfortably placed underneath a mixer, turntable, or controller.
Available in March 2017 – Retail price: 79,90 € / 89,99 USD
Features:
Sturdy metal construction
Solid Quick-Release Clamp Mechanism for easy assembling and breakdown
Continuous height adjustable (22-35 cm / 5-14 inch) and 360 degree rotatable laptop tray
Step-less angle adjustable tray
Slip-guard rubber feet and surface for high stability
Folds flat for space-saving storage
Includes transportation pouch and extra set of colored rubber rings
Specifications:
Dimensions folded: 25 x 31,5 x 3,5 cm / 9.8 x 12.4 x 1.3 inch
Dimensions assembled: 22 -35 x 31,5 x 24,5 cm / 8.5-14 x 12.4 x 9.7 inch
Weight: 1,7 kg / 3,75 lbs
What we have here is a melting pot of all that is good and great in DJ laptop design. With obvious design cues from the Crane, UDG, and Uberstand, the Vektor lacks the utility tray of some, but does offer adjustments that others don't.

I'm all out of words for this — it's a laptop stand, and everything that could be said has been said. And now Magma has one that hits the right notes for just about everyone. And it's a bit cheaper than the rest too.
Magma is appearing on the Mixware stand, Hall B stand 6000, at NAMM 2017, which starts in earnest tomorrow.

IK Multimedia Italians are still as prolific when it comes to connecting their guitar to their Mac, and announce two new products at the NAMM 2017.

The iRig Pro I / O is a bit like the iRig " De Luxe " in which the manufacturer has gathered all its know-how and its software offer . The object thus embeds the usual conversion modules (preamp, input jack ...), but also a MIDI input / output (it is new) and a great amount of software. It is thus possible to register in 24-bit / 96kHz, to connect MIDI instruments, but also to connect a headset which now has its own volume control.
The product also provides a LED backlight accurate enough to adjust its levels easily. As for the input, it incorporates a multiple jack jack / XLR, which makes it possible to connect microphones or instruments, according to the needs. Those who prefer to work in mobility (on an iPhone / iPad) will also appreciate the integrated power, which allows to recharge the device while recording. Finally, many software are provided, about 500 € of license: AmpliTube 4 , AmpliTube for iPhone and iPad, SampleTank 3 SE and T-Racks Deluxe with Mic Room.

IRig Pro I / O will be available in April for € 149.99 excl . VAT .

^ ^  MIDI I/O is cool - but too bad its missing TRS Stereo AUX Input  - still no method to record stereo line inputs, and hopefully the DAC and output stage has  better quality than the very poor noise floor of the last years iRig DUO

------

On a slightly different segment, this time IK Multimedia is aimed at acoustic guitar lovers with its iRig Acoustic Stage.

It is therefore a microphone that just clipper near the rosette on the sound box and that is connected to a preamp that you will have to hang on the belt:

The case contains the traditional DSPs and pre-amps (32-bit) of the brand, You can even integrate another source via an auxiliary input. On the output side, there is a USB jack that you can connect to your Mac and a standard jack output for the mixer for example.

Note the presence of tone presets (depending on the type of instrument) and also the presence of a " Cancel Feedback " button to eliminate the noise, especially if you play live.

IRig Acoustic will be available in a few days at all retailers for € 99.99 excl.

http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2017/01/18/audio-analysis-and-instrument-tuning-for-iphone/
IrcamLab has introduced The Snail, described as an advanced audio analysis and instrument tuning application for iPhone. Here's a description in their own words...

As an analogue of the human cochlea where the different frequencies are split-up and analyzed, The Snail for iPhone uses a snail grid to visualize root note and overtone structures of an incoming sound very precisely via the integrated iPhone microphone. The Snail is based on newly developed audio technology making instrument tuning easy and audio analysis musical and fun to watch.

There are two visualization modes. One is the snail grid, a complete musical overview of the audio spectrum. The other one, the diamond view, is especially designed to focus on the root note for tuning purposes. In both views there is a sine tuning oscillator available which is controlled simply by touching the desired note on the iPhone display. There are a lot of customizable parameters. No problem if you would like to tune transposing instruments or if you need a tuning reference other than 440 Hz.

The well-known Ircam institute for acoustic and music research in Paris is responsible for the new technology of detection and visualization. It is a patented invention by Thomas Hélie, CNRS researcher at the Sciences and Technologies for Music and Sound (STMS) Laboratory (IRCAM/CNRS/UPMC/French Ministry of Culture and Communication). Berlin-based company SKYLIFE is responsible for the iOS port of this Ircam technology. The Snail is also available for Mac and PC distributed by Plugivery.

Key features
Precise audio analysis and instrument tuning in two modes.
Snail view for a sophisticated visual representation of root note and overtone structures.
Diamond view to tune instruments and to control pitches of voices and other sources.
Visual gain and mic gain controllers.
Switchable auto detection.
Touch sine tuning oscillator.
4 color modes: coherency index, magnitude, phase, phase-tuner.
Adjustable grid range (octaves).
Setup for transposing instruments.
Many customizable parameters like tuning reference, frequency tracking and audio window size.

System Specifications
iPhone 6, 6+ or newer, iOS 10.

G6128T-CLFG Cliff Gallup Signature Duo Jet

Original-era master Cliff Gallup's tastefully fleet-fingered work hot-rodded dozens of classics by Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps in the latter half of the 1950s. Soft-spoken in manner, Gallup was anything but with a Duo Jet in his hands, turning in solos and backing tracks of startling proficiency and truly raising the bar (and the roof) for rockabilly and early rock 'n' roll guitarists.

His contributions have inspired generations, and legends like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck credit Gallup's innovative technique as a major influence on their highly successful careers.

A finely crafted celebration of Gallup's 1954 model, the G6128T-CLFG Cliff Gallup Signature Duo Jet rocks all the essential ingredients of his time-honored signature sound, including dual DynaSonic pickups, rosewood fingerboard with "big block" pearloid inlays, compensated aluminum bridge with aluminum base, Bigsby B3BBST vibrato tailpiece with black painted trough and fixed arm, classic "arrow" control knobs, flat-wound strings, and a dark-stained headstock bearing Gallup's signature on the truss rod cover.

G6120 Duane Eddy Signature Limited Edition Hollow Body with Bigsby

Celebrate the legendary and pioneering tone of Grammy award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Musicians Hall of Fame member Duane Eddy with the new G6120 Duane Eddy Signature Limited Edition Hollow Body with Bigsby models.

Enjoy classic styling and full, resonate sound with these single-cutaway beauties that combine modern Gretsch upgrades along with features based directly on Eddy's original 1957 G6120 model, heard on many of his chart-topping hits.

Traditional features include twin DynaSonic single-coil pickups, Bigsby B6CB tailpiece with DE handle, trestle bracing, brass nut, special neck profile and unique headstock shape, along with modern Gretsch appointments such as extended Bigsby string mount pins and Tru-Arc "rocking" bar bridge.

This signature instrument is available in two new limited edition Black and Pearl White finishes. The Black lacquer version is highlighted with aged white binding, while the durable urethane Pearl White guitar features tortoiseshell binding.
