Anyone got a decent patch for Crazy Horses. Mine sounds more like a slightly irate pig :-\

papabuss

Do you mean the horses or the OSMONDS guitar sound? ;)

Do you mean the actual crazy horses sound from that song?

I've got a remix someone did of that song in the 1990s and it's great.

But from what I understand the crazy horses sound was created by a single manual Yamaha YC-30 combo organ and using the ribbon controller along the top of the keyboard to do it (I think it was a portamento strip).  (see video) and picture link of the keyboard:

See:

It is a totally diabolical sound.  I wonder if I couldn't simulate it on the 99 with it's ribbon controller and pitch transpose the heck out of an organ sound and add vibrato.

Hi Todd yes it's possible with the RIBBON or the EXP with the VG99 but fatlad wanted/needed it with the GR55. My first ideas a "special" synth with EXP  and pitch (+12 or 24?;)

Really amazing song....
Here is another link
GREAT (WHAT A) SHOW!!

Enjoy it (It's been some years ago) ;)

I've had another play with it. This is my attempt so far.
Using Synth saw 9 + VK rotary for vibrato

That is cool.  When I started to play that song, this is the first song that popped to my mind.  You could totally use that patch on Climbing Up the Ladder by the Isley Brothers

Great patch - but I must admit have never heard this song until now.

In 1972, I was heavily focused on either playing Blues in Chicago bars, or doing Zeppelin covers.
Osmonds were not my thing.

I think that was the one album where they focused on a heavier Hendrix meets Funkadelic type sound yet all their other stuff was catered to make teen girls swoon.  I remember a TV appearance where Donny was ripping it up on a Gibson SG and it kind of blew my mind because my thinking was he wasn't really a guitar player, he was a singer/entertainer yet there he was channeling some kind of blues rock insanity.
