From this set of amps, which would be best for a new gr-55 user?

Hi all.

I currently have a Traynor YGL1 15 wat combo that I use for most of my small gigs, mostly in different churches, and am looking into an amp for my gr-55 and Godin rig. As I'm a new gr-55 user, not quite sure which amp to get... but from the topic, it seems that amps that are typically solid state or even keyboard amps do well in producing the GR-55 pcm and modelled guitar tones. However, it'd be nice to have something that can also get a good sound from the magnetic pickups from the electric itself, if I ever decide to use a different board with it and just want to play the guitar. I compiled a list of amps from a local dealer and was wondering whether people could offer me their thoughts? Thanks!

From another topic on this forum, seems like it'd be better to try and find a cube XL if possible as the frequency response is wider, but I haven't had a chance to play with any of those yet to compare the two, and don't know if a video recording will do it justice.

Or the k4.

Thoughts? I'm thinking of selling the ygl1 to put toward the new amp, which is why I want one which can handle both synthesizer as well as clean elctric magnetic tones, and so I'm guessing the keyboard amps are probably not the best option for that. Any input is helpful!

You'll find that everyone has their own ideas on this, naturally, but a sure safe bet would be to listen to Elantric's advice about the benefits of the Roland Cube 80 XL...while I don't own one, I can understand the reasons behind choosing it.

From what I would expect from its performance, it would also be a better choice as a 'crossover' amp for both synth & normal guitar, rather than a keyboard amp.

Just my 2c worth.. ;)

Cheers,
Peter

Traynors K2 would be my recommendation. I have a K4 and the K2 was way easier to carrier, plenty loud, and the mid focus complemented the GR-55's amp models.

Thanks all for the replies! At this point, it'll be a hard choice between the Roland Cube Street x or the 80 XL, depending on what deals I can find for both amps and doing a little more digging. I don't intend to use my GR-55 for gigs through amps right away, so have some time to figure out what I want. So far, the overall favour seems to go to the 80 XL. Any further thoughts would be appreciated!
