drbill

I've tried a half dozen times today. Not very impressive.

Basically if you click either link here

It takes you here, - and if you lack a code, you cant proceed to purchase since you cant get past this page - (seems dumb)

https://store.positivegrid.com/redeem?ab=4

Then if you start clicking around on the web page you get this message.(?)

I figure they are still in beta testing

The official link to Bias Desktop is here below  - and it still says "Coming Soon".

BIAS Desktop is now LIVE as invitation-only.

Here's how the program rollout works: if you signed up for the wait list, keep an eye on your email over the coming weeks — we'll be sending you an invitation code. This code will allow you to download and try out free demo version, and purchase BIAS Desktop ($99) or BIAS Professional ($199).

If you haven't yet signed up, you can do so here:

I find the amp matching feature very intriguing; can't wait to try it out.  BTW - I got TSE X50: it sounds pretty good, but I don't understand why anyone would prefer it over BIAS.  It seems quite limited by comparison.

I try it with Eventide UltraReverb and I'm not impressed. I like when I switch on something and I feel that I use something special. Not in this case. For me S-gear 2.4 sound much organic and better.

Any News on if presets can be shared between the desktop and iOS versions ?

Finally got my invitation and can't log in to do the download. Their web developer is really not very good at his job.

After you have redeemed tour copy, you may have tot go to the following link:

https://store.positivegrid.com/download

That worked for me...

I have also received an invitation and a code, but cannot log in.
Have resetted my password too, nothing works...
Meanwhile i have been tweaking Peavey Revalver and found some good compression settings.
Sound really good, especially distorted stuff is realistic.

To my ears Bias sounds always very compressed, but I'll check it out when I get the demo version.

drbill

They finally sent me to https://store.positivegrid.com/redeem & I could finally log in & download the demo. Only took 3 days.

How does the desktop version differ from the iOS version?  Obviously there are the benefits of running VST/AU in terms of reamping, automation, etc.  But are the algorithms producing the tones any different?

By About $80 comparing the standard version of IOS Bias to standard version of Desktop Bias.

The $199 Desktop version includes a tone matching feature, for those who need that help.

But none of the BIAS  versions of have MIDI control or hooks for automation from what I can see.

all BIAS Versions using the same amp types sound the same to me.

I'll stick with the ipad version

Thanks, Steve.  That's actually what I was hoping to hear.  One less thing to get distracted about.  :)

Elantric: "A few testers for both Bias Desktop and TSE Audio's X50 prefer TSE X50"...

Yeah, me too!
Yesterday I was finally able to download the demo of BIAS and after many hours s testing both, side by side, X50 is the winner.
BIAS is not bad, but spongy and unclear in the lows most time. Some models sound quite the same.
99 usd for the Windows version? Why the hell is the IOS version only 20 usd in Apple-store?

Anyway, I am happy to see more usable amp-models for the computer these days...

I would like to know how do you find S-Gear (http://www.scuffhamamps.com) in comparison to Bias and TSE?

Never tried it
At least  they see the value on having a forum

Elantric try it and let us know your opinion. For me it is the best sounding amp sim out of the box. I was impressed. Bias not gave me this "wow" after switching it "On".
