I was checking out the Realtek download site:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

This is the sound card on my laptop. They have the windows 10 driver available. I loaded it in and now have Audacity working. This may also work for roland stuff (I already used the other fix that was listed above this post)

Cautions and Limitations

Sound interruption or other less-than-perfect outcomes may be experienced if your computer's performance and specifications are somewhat inadequate. The types of applications you use and the way in which you use them can also influence the experience you receive.
If the PC is started up while the GR-55 is still connected to the PC with its power turned on, the driver may not be loaded properly and you may not be able to use the GR-55. In such cases, connect the GR-55 to another USB port or turn on the power of GR-55 after the PC starts up.
If the GR-55 does not work correctly after resuming from Sleep mode, you should exit all applications that use the GR-55, and then turn the power of the GR-55 off and on again.
If the USB cable is disconnected and reconnected while the GR-55 is in use, or if the power of the GR-55 is turned off, then on again, it may stop operating correctly. If this occurs, after resuming, you should exit all applications that use the GR-55, and turn the power of the GR-55 off, then on again.
If your computer was experiencing a heavy processing load, such as when accessing a CD-ROM Drive or network while the GR-55 was being used, the GR-55 may no longer operate correctly. If this occurs, stop the playback or recording, then try starting playback or recording over again. If you are still unable to play back or record, quit all programs that are using the GR-55, then turn the GR-55 off and then on again.
Audio clicks and pops may occur during playback or recording if you connect or disconnect other USB devices (such as USB memory) or turn another USB device on/off while using the GR-55.
In some cases, you may not obtain the expected level of performance if you're using a USB-connected hard disk at the same time as the GR-55. Do not use a USB-connected hard disk as the storage destination for the audio that you're playing back or recording.
Installation

*   To reinstall or update the driver, refer to "To reinstall."
Disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse, and then start Windows.
Check that the computer is connected to the Internet.

About the items in the Settings dialog box

Audio Buffer Size
You can adjust the audio input/output buffer size. (By default, this will be the sixth position from the left.)
Decreasing the buffer size will shorten the latency and improve realtime performance, but might make it more likely that you will experience audio clicks and pops, depending on your computer's processing power and the song data load.
Increasing the buffer size will lengthen the latency, but will make audio streaming more stable, and it will be less likely for audio clicks and pops to occur.
In general, you'll probably want to decrease the buffer size for better realtime performance if you're playing a software synthesizer in real time, or if you're monitoring an audio input that's being passed through your DAW software.
Conversely, you can increase the buffer size to prevent audio clicks and pops if you're recording or playing back song data that contains numerous tracks and presents a heavy processing load.
By changing the buffer size as appropriate for your situation, you can obtain the right balance between realtime performance and audio streaming stability.
* Note!
If you use an application with an audio equipment test function, after changing the buffer size, carry out a test.

ASIO Buffer Size
This is the minimum buffer size that can be set by the ASIO application.
*   Depending on the application you're using, there may be other buffer sizes that can be set in addition to the minimum buffer size, and the buffer size shown here might not match the actual buffer size.
For details on setting and checking the buffer size, refer to the owner's manual for your application.

"Use Smaller ASIO Buffer Size" check box
If this check box is selected, the buffer size when using ASIO-compatible applications will be made smaller.
If you experience pops or clicks when this check box is selected, deselect this check box.
*   You must deselect this check box when adjusting the "Audio Buffer Size."

It appears that the 8.1 drivers work perfectly as long as you can defeat the driver integrity check that causes the installation to fail. I've done this in Win 10 64-bit to revive my ancient UM-2 and my much newer GR-55, using Method 1 as set out in  http://forum.cakewalk.com/The-ultimate-guide-to-get-your-RolandEdirol-devices-to-work-with-Windows-10-Updated-m3267234.aspx on the Cakewalk Sonar forum.
Many thanks for share this trick ! It work perfectly for me.
Tonight I successfully install UM-1 driver for W8.1 in my W10 and everything goes well.
Thanks Again, Mauri
PS My Gr55 works well from beginning no need to modify nothing.
Nothing is impossible,if someone else will do for you.

Excuse me for reviving this. Has anyone been able to download the Windows 10 driver for our device? I plug it in, power it on, but nothing actually happens.

I then go to Device Manager, where it is listed under the "Other Devices?" and with an exclamation mark beside the GR55 name.
Right clicking and Updatind driver automatically gives me a no driver compatible found and that I should check the manufacturer's page to find a proper one or something to that extent.

I am using Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
Thank you gentlemen in advance.
I am a bomb tech.If you see me run,try and keep up

Its a royal pain -

IMHO Windows 10 separates the "haves vs the have nots" and divides the economic classes - for basic functionality issues like this

QuoteGR-55 Driver for Windows 10

Your computer downloads the Windows® 10 driver for GR-55 automatically from the Internet when GR-55 is connected to the computer.
If you are poor and dont have access to an ultra fast internet access when you attempt to install the Windows 10 driver  -  you are basically left in the lurch.
Cant wait for Linux to get more mainstream - but projecting in the future, issues like this explains the rebirth of all acoustic music/

The impatient future Hank Williams, Little Richards, Willie Nelsons, and Bo Diddleys of the world wont need internet

HecticArt

I finally uninstalled my 55 drivers from my Win 10 laptop last night after I gave up on trying to make it work a couple of months ago.
I had gotten so frustrated that I just kept using my old win 7 machine.

I started from scratch reinstalling the driver and FloorBoard Editor, after carefully going back through this thread again.

Success!

Thanks to those of you that contributed to the knowledge-base.
It looks like I still need someone to hold my hand when I cross the street from time to time. ;)
