Hi there! After years belonging to this community, I decided to write my first post. A few years ago I bought a Gibson Studio Limited 2012:
For a while it worked perfect, but one day the tuning function stopped working. I got in touch with GibsonTech and Tronical (the system's developper) but they haven't assisted me.
I'm attaching a video where you can see the problem. I suspect that no energy is being supplied to the head's CPU, as there is a Gibson logo on it that should light up when turning on the system. Also, when I select the tuning mode and strum the strings to start the tuning process, the lights in the MCK stay red like if I hadn't strum them. After a while the strummed strings' lights turn yellow, but nothing else happens.
I reseted the system to factory settings but nothing changed.
Anyway, I would like to know if somebody knows something about this... I would really appreciate any comment!
Thank you in advance,
Regards from Argentina

Alternate strings deliver Data, Voltage, Ground connections to the Headstock CPU
If the Tailpiece is lowered too low, and any strings make contact with the bridge base, this shorts out these critical electrical connections

An online archive of troubleshooting these Tronical designed systems is here

and its a shame that despite the Gibson Lifetime Warranty - based upon real user experiences, Gibson / Tronical only provide tech support these their Robot Guitar products for 3 years after purchase,

Hey! I really appreciate your reply!
I've checked the links you provided and found some interesting information.
Apparently my problem is that there is a short somewhere in the strings, but I have checked every inch of every string and they are ok. It's weird though that I measure 6mV between every string.
A few weeks ago I bought replacements for the CPUs, so maybe I should try replacing them to see if something changes. What do you say?

Thank you!

Hello people;
I had to suffer the unpleasant experience of failure of my Gibson LP studio Limited 2012 ROBOT to realize how alone we. We rely on technological advances, usually very expensive, and expect some support from Gibson and Tronical, at least to hear that you have to replace the whole. But no. Radio silence is what I got.
Facing that indifference, I decided to buy the spare parts but found that not all parts are in stock. So I got to buy the CPU head, an internal Bluetooth module and the MCK. I could not find neither the bridge nor the tail piece.
Yesterday I started to replace the modules. After changing the CPU and Bluetooth modules, it started working! Thank God, Ra, Allah, Buddha and all.
Only in this forum, Elantric gave us a hand, so thanks for that.
I share a video the outcome of such a struggle!

Happy to hear you were able to implement your own repair and can get back to playing!

Its a case of lack of integrity. Gibson does not have the resources to employ and train a resident specialist for these guitars. (I almost got the job myself, but knew they were too distracted and not committed to the long haul with proper legacy product customer support. At least its not a dead 2007 Gibson HD6X and BOB BOX
The bold "Gibson Lifetime Guaranty" often imbues the buyer with confidence   - but read the fine print and discover it excludes all the electronics

Since 2012, my Dark Fire remains an unplayed museum piece.
But happy to hear you got yours back in action again!
