When I assign a MIDI cc (external button) to Key/BPM/AmpControl --->>> BMP Tap, I wind up having to tap double-time (8th notes) to set the proper tempo.  If I use the F1 button on the panel, it works on 1/4 notes, as expected.

If I assign the function to CTL3, it works fine.

When I look at a MIDI monitor, I see that my h/w button is sending cc72,127 on button press, cc72,0 on button release, as it should.

SOLUTION:  It's a VG-99 bug.  Note that when you assign a CC to BPM Tap, you lose the ability to set Latch/Momentary for the switch behavior, which makes sense, you'd never want latching behavior.  However, if that Assign (1-16) was previously set to a different function (i.e. Delay On/Off), AND the mode was set to Latch, the VG-99 never clears that setting when you change that Assign to BPM Tap.  So it's still "latching" and takes twice as many button presses to send the same number of 127 values.  Just temporarily go back to some other assignment, set it back to momentary, re-assign it to BPM Tap and it's all good.
