Bluetooth Wireless Headphones Suffering Lag

Hi

I've had some cheap, non-Bluetooth wireless headphones for years, which I have been using through the headphone socket on my GR-55 to practise late at night without disturbing the rest of the house.  Recently I have experienced some issues with them appearing to run out of power so I decided that maybe it might be time to invest in a replacement.  I eventually settled on the Avantree Audition Pro mostly because of the aptX low latency and the 40 hours of battery life:

Rightly or wrongly I bought this Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver at the same time because it seemed to have good reviews and also featured aptX low latency:

Having charged both units as per the instructions, I was dismayed to find a lag when hearing my synth guitar sounds coming from the GR-55.  It was very miniscule but still pronounced enough that I had to stop playing.

First I paired the headphones with the Bluetooth on the PC and watched a video to verify that there weren't any lip sync issues.  After that I plugged the transmitter into the headphone jack on the front of the PC and paired the headphones with the transmitter again, then I watched the same video again and still there were no lip sync issues.

I tried playing my regular guitar with the transmitter plugged into the output jack on the end of my pedalboard and didn't suffer any lag there either.

In all cases I have a USB cable attached between the GR-55 and the PC for me to play along to the music.  It seems strange to me that the music is not also suffering from lag as the GR-55 definitely seems to be where the problem lies.  Incidentally I have tried using the headphones wired and did not experience any of these concerns (so that is what I'll have to do for now.)

As it is, I will be sending the transmitter/receiver back using Amazon returns because I tried visiting the website www.etrond.com and found that the domain is for sale.  If I were to replace it with one of Avantree's transmitters, would that make any difference at all?  My feeling is that the answer would probably be no and if that is true can anyone tell me what I can do to correct this lag?

I think that covers everything but if not let me know.

Thanks for reading this

Bluetooth remains not ready for Prime Time for live performance  - it always suffers high latency

Anyone who recommends Bluetooth Headphones as a poor mans substitute for professional wireless IEM (In Ear Monitors) clearly lacks experience, or can live with hearing yourself out of sync.

Most pros will throw the Bluetooth headphones across the room after 30 seconds, even latest generation Bluetooth 4.0 LE  / APT-X types

If you are technically inclined, you could try replacing the rechargeable battery in your old wireless phones set.

Hi

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I will see if I can find some replacement batteries and hope that temporarily solves the problem until I work a better solution out.
