I read somewhere once that Al believed the Les Paul/Marshall setup in the VG 88 sounded better than the actual thing.

Any chance anyone has his preset?

I was on 2 concerts of Al DiMeola those times. All distorted sounds, including those "marshallish" sounded artifilal and unbalanced.
Being a long time user of VGs myself, I know that VG-8 and VG-88 were not able to give good lead tones with high gain, that's why
I always used analogue OD pedals or tube preamps for live gigs. The 99 is significantly better, but still not 100 %. You will notice the
difference on decay and sustain behaviour soon if you compare it with good tube amps.
I hope Roland will build a VG unit soon, that will give us natural coloring and sustain for soli.
Don't think that the GP-10 will make it!
