Hi, I've started this thread to produce a list of MIDX-20 (or MIDX-10) compatible (and non compatible) USB-to-MIDI interfaces between the PC and the MIDX for safely setting up the advanced features of the unit and doing firmware updates.

I welcome any MIDX user out there to post here what interface (cable or box) he/she's been using and if it worked or not.
This list is also probably a good indication if the interfaces are good for other use as well, as the MIDX traffic involves fast and rather large SysEx transfers.

Hello,
I also noticed a problem with the SysEx when controlling my GR-55 by an Arduino and a clone interface of the Prozor (Bespeco BMUSB100) : only the first SysEx passed correctly. I do not know if this is applicable to all cases, but I solved my problem by sending after each SysEx a CrtlChg not recognized by the GR-55.

I don't intend to even try to make it $5 Prozor compatible. If you buy at junk price, you get junk ;-)
Anyway thanks for the tip  :D

Just wanted to add my experiences at the right place :

RME Fireface UFX (Discontinued)   works like a charm with big sysex data

ESI M8U XL (Discontinued, but M4U XT is still available) with drivers installed, firmware updates work well

Neusonik iM/One (Discontinued) doesn't work for firmware updates, only for config. with the editor

If you use one of these and any variants which look similar

PROZOR USB to MIDI Interface (also sold by other names on ebay etc.)
Price indication: $5USD on ebay

No-one can help you, these ones only handle keyboard notes, patch change, and a very limited size of sysx data,
and randomly choke up, requiring to be disconnected from the USB port to re-start.
If you use one of these for doing firmware updates, it will be your own fault your updated device is bricked.

I recommend the Roland UM-one first and foremost,
and any Edirol brand (which is owned by Roland).
Some I have used with good results (in other projects)
Edirol UA-20
Edirol UA-25
Edirol UA-101
