Just an idea. This is why the VG-99 is such a quick setup for live playing. Its at waist height and you dont have to run thru menus to tweak it and even the menus you do have to go thru have dedicated buttons to access them quickly. You can assign perimeters that need tweaking to the F Knobs and do it on the fly, without having to look like a fitness instructor, bending over all the time and then standing up again. Once the GP-10 patch is set up properly its great, but getting it there on stage while performing, is a "stretch"
VG-88V2, GR-50, GR-55, 4 X VG-99s,2 X FC-300,  2 X GP-10 AXON AX 100 MKII, FISHMAN TRIPLE PLAY,MIDX-10, MIDX-20, AVID 11 RACK, BEHRINGER FCB 1010, LIVID GUITAR WING, ROLAND US-20, 3 X GUYATONE TO-2. MARSHALL BLUESBREAKER, SERBIAN ELIMINATOR AMP. GR-33.

With only the one USB port on GP-10 - I can't see how that could be possible
No it's not possible. The low level Roland/Boss checks the VID/PID of the USB device so BTS can only talk to the GP-10.

Probably work with Gumtown Floorboard (PC)->USB to MIDI cable->MIDX-20->GP-10.
USB foot controller into upper USB of MIDX-20.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Hello Snhirsch and Whippinpost91850,

Here's the ZIP file with MIDX-10 V4.2 firmware including Katana and Mustang Bridge.
http://www.primovasound.com/firmware/MIDX10-V42.zip

THE BRIDGES LISTENS TO CHANNEL 2 (Example C1 00 => sel. patch 1, C1 02 => sel. patch 3)

To upgrade you need the MIDX-10 Assistant PC program:
http://www.primovasound.com/firmware/MIDX-10 Setup.zip

...and a USB to MIDI cable (a' la' Roland UM-ONE MKII).

To get MIDX-10 into bootloader mode you have to wiggle the Merge switch up/down a few times while applying power.
If you managed this two-hand act, all leds blink happily and eagerly awaits new firmware from the PC Assistant.
(Just follow the instructions in the Assistant)

The Katana MIDI implementation is here:
http://www.primovasound.com/firmware/MIDX_20_Katana.pdf

Happy pimping!!!  :D

Robert, I assume this works with the MIDX-20 as well
Nop, this is MIDX-10 only. Slightly different hardware. If you have a 20, you'll have to wait.
I could send you a MIDX-20 pre-release but only via mail. Contact me if it suits you).

Please be informed there's a new firmware (V4.3) for MIDX-10 with same Katana bridge and Mustang V2 bridge as in MIDX-20.

It's available at the bottom of this page:

Robert,

I know the MIDX-10 is not in production any more, but is there likely to be a port of the GT-1 Bridge (from the MIDX-20) to the MIDX-10 at any stage?  Would that be (relatively) easy to do?

The GT-1 would be more useful to me than either the Mustang or Katana Bridge.

Kind regards

Sure, I got a couple of things pending for the GT-1, I'll try to do it when I adress them.

I've got an Arturia Beatstep and would like to use it to control other devices including a GP-10 and MS-3 but I'm short a midi in socket for the beatstep. I've got a spare MIDX-10 and was wondering if its worth exploring the following set up: Beatstep Midi out -> MIDX Midi In -> MIDX USB -> USB Hub -> iRig Midi 2 -> other devices.

Thanks

Chris

The MIDX-10 is crucial for GP-10 MIDI control  - but WILL NOT work with any USB Hub

( thats why there is a MIDX-20

Maestro is right. To accomodate a hub, a quadruple of memory allocations and MIDI pipes are required. The tiny 28-pin controller selected by unexperienced choice for the MIDX-10 can't do that properly. Only 8kb RAM available. So no hub is supported, and will not happen with this device.

Thanks, I'm a bit slow but I get there in the end. Looks like the beatstep is sending midi via usb so I'll try connecting it to the MIDX-10 via usb and that'll give me the extra MIDI I/O I need leaving the GP10 and MS3 on the MIDX-20. Such clever little boxes - are you sure you can't do magic with your knees?

Thanks for continuing to update the MIDX-10, Robert.  Above and beyond the call of duty!

Dunny Daw

Thanks for this firmware update, Robert.

I've downloaded and updated and all seems to have applied correctly.  Will now try to start chaining and checking if it has worked (in about two nights' time).

Kind regards

Will the Iconnect midi4 interface with the Boss GP-10 USB midi
Depends on what you mean. Not directly, but with a MIDX in between regular MIDI and SysEx works.
No Audio streams via MIDX.
