I may just do that although I thought of one plausible reason for it being held back:

-Mac OS X Yosemite was released yesterday.
-Windows 10 will be released very soon.

It may be they are waiting for these to be out in the marketplace before they release it.

Microsoft has stated that Windows 10 will launch "later in the year" in 2015.

Anybody tried calling Boss about this yet? Really curious as to the answer. I hope it fixes a bug or two. They acknowledged one that I reported a while back. Here's hoping...

Roland's sales and profits?

[Guitar-related equipment]
As for guitar effects, sales were flat year on year thanks to strong performance by new multi-type products in North
America and Europe, despite stagnation among existing products in Japan and Asia. With respect to guitar
synthesizers, although sales were strong for processors launched in Japan, sales declined year on year due to a
falling off in existing products in North America. As a result, net sales for this segment increased by 6.0% year on
year to ¥2,004 million, due to the depreciation of the yen, in spite of a virtual decline in sales.

Did anyone call Roland USA Customer Service today during their 3 hours of operation regarding status of latest RC-300 Firmware Version?

Guess we will have to wait until Friday when when they open again.

I was dealing with work projects.  I'll try again.

Well, after 17 minutes of waiting, I managed to get through to their support today.

Good news is that I have an answer. Bad news is that it's terribly unexciting.

The rep looked up the version history and found that yeah, this was a new version shipped with the new units. However, he assured me that it added zero functionality except for something for testers or technicians. It hasn't been released publicly because it is immaterial and 1.05 is in fact the latest version as far as functionality goes.

He wasn't aware of any plans for a new firmware update, but said he didn't have any special information that I didn't. When the folks in Japan send a new update, they put it up.

I should have asked if 1.1 has everything 1.05 had for the sake of those of you guys who bought it recently... sorry about that.

Answers the essential questions though... no bug fixes or new features to be found here.

Sorry to be the bearer of boring news.

Hey thanks for sharing Threeleggedyoyo. At least it puts my curiosity to rest. "Boring" news is better than no news at all!

Syph

I'll second that! Good to know I am not waiting for nothing anymore.

Thanks for the efforts!

I´ve tested the new Boss tone Studio for RC

Best part: ALL the content is FREE to download inside the app ( http://bosstonecentral.com/trackset/category/rc/ )

Worst part:
- No editing functions at all. The app only can download, import or export files.
- The content can only be downloaded straight to the RC internal memory. No other location allowed.
- The app crashes often (OS X version) while downloading files

Threeleggedyoyo

Huh. I thought this would do a little more. I was hoping it would make for a more elegant storage solution than what we had already, but I'm not seeing how this is faster or better than my usual "take the whole ROLAND" folder to and from my laptop" method.

I was hoping it would store my settings as well (BPM, drum machine selection, etc...)

Am I missing something? Seems like just a very simple (one WAV at a time) importer / exporter plus some goodies to download.

Still nothing about a download link for the RC300 FW 1.10

jwoertz

I had version 1.10 when I received my RC-300. It was buggy so I downloaded and installed version 1.05 and all the issues appear to be fixed.

That's interesting. After doing a few test loops on a new rc300 unit i recieved on Monday, the rc unit would not record any new loops. I had to do a factory reset to get the unit to function again.

For what it's worth, I've had my rc300 for 1 year now. It also shipped with Ver 1.10 but sadly (and disgustingly, that after all these years and complaints, Roland still haven't fixed this bug) it still freezes, jams, skips audio, "too busy" etc at times, esp if you need to delete/undo your 3rd built loop.
Fix = Mute PA and turn RC300 off and back on. Really cool when your mid song at an important gig!! So nervous to back grade to 1.05?????

aliensporebomb

Go back to version 1.05 - I've NEVER had that error and I use my RC-300 as a live performance looper, recording interface in the studio, looper in the studio, and I use it a lot not just basic functions.  I think 1.10 was kind of a boondoggle - I don't know what it purported to offer but if Roland was smart they would fix it and release a 1.15 or something and be done with it since it's obvious there's going to be an RC-350 or 400 (although unlikely since the number 4 is sometimes associated with death in Japan - the reason why Nikon released a D3300 camera and a D3500 but not a D3400).

Sorry about the BIIIG bump, but I just had the same revelation as Tek today when checking the firmware version, and since 3 years later there is still no news of a downloadable v1.10, I was wondering if any of ye had had any development regarding that mystery...

Not that I had any "Too busy" issue (I vaguely remembered seeing it once though), but the last few posts made me worried about using the RC-300 live with v1.10 so I'm wondering if I should downgrade to v1.05 (this "1.10" could be a bug from the internal software, actually meaning 1.01...?).

this quote is from a thread on the RC 300 when I was having problems with the 'too busy' error message.

"I spoke with the excellent customer support guy at roland and he says that if you have version 1.10(shipped with newer units) you can't go back to an older version. There may have been some firmware updates at the factory that are unique to the newer units that were shipped with version 1.10, which may also explain why 1.10 was not made available as an update for older units. He suggested that the error message doesn't necessarily mean that there is a bug and to write the tracks before moving on to other unit functions"
