Hi I wanted to be able to switch the AMP type using an ASSIGN but there does not seem to be a parameter for that???
Is my only option then to use the MFX AMP-SIM? Or am I missing something???

I want to make a patch for Porcupine Tree's Blackest Eyes and need to go from clean acoustic to heavy distorted (and also add some synth underneath) and switch from standard to dropD tuning... so a lot of ASSIGNs :-)
Have most of it working but now 'only' for the AMP....

cheers

There are Control Assignment Targets in the MFX section for GR-55 COSM PreAmp Type, Speaker Type, Cab Mic Type

Here are the settings in the GR-55 Floorboard Editor for  Control Assignment #1 to use the CTRL PDL to toggle between "BG Lead" and "Metal Lead" COSM Amp types

Hi Elantric

Yes I had seen that - but it is only the MFX preamp type that can be switches apparently , as I had stated in my question, NOT the standard AMP type right?
That was why I was wondering if I was missing something... somehow this seems to be one of few parameters that CAN't be targeted?....

But I will try how the MFX preamp compares to the standard AMP in terms of sound and if this will do the sound I'm after...

thanks!

No Assignable Targets for the regular Amp Types are in the GR-55.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

Macciza

But you can turn the amp off/on, adjust gain, vol etc so you should be able to come up with something workable i reckon...

It may have existed during GR-55 development, but I recon it probably resulted in some sort of 200mS sound dropout when changing amps.

Try setting up the acoustic without using the amp at all...
Then set it so you change guitar, turn amp on etc
Should work ...

Ya Gumtown I guess you're right about the delay - tat might be the cause....

And Macciza - I will look in to this - in this specific case that could work!!
And switching on the MFX sim as an extra amp could be a way to...
I'll experiment further :-)
If I have a proper working version I'll put it online!

Oh ya -- for something completely different....
I am in the (slow) process of making a website where all tones of the GR55 can be heard... I am recording all of'm - just slowly strumming all strings with an E-chord and then one complete chord...
I've got tone 1 - 180 in at the moment (piano, bell, mallet, organs, harpsichord, ac. guitar)
I want this for myself anyway but I'm hoping it can be useful to others as well..

Super sweet!  Thanks for this, and nicely done, so far.  Bookmarked!

Creart, as was suggested, setup the acoustic model in the modeling and set to bypass. That will run acoustic directly to your DELAY,CHORUS, REVERB. For your high gain sound, run your normal guitar to amp/mod and adjust to taste. In your ASSIGNS, set one to target model tone level, the second to normal guitar tone level, and use the EX PEDAL to fade back and forth between the two. Just adjust the action ranges opposite of the other. Heel position = acoustic.....toe position = high gain. Or visa versa if you wish.
