I've enjoyed using Jammit in the past, both on my Mac and iPad.  They have definitely not kept up with OS/iOS changes and now it will not work without a hack on iOS.  Updates are no longer working on OS X.  The website appears to have been last updated in 2012 and there are no news or events postings after January 2014.  They will still sell you isolated tracks, though!

What concerns me is not being able to access or download the tracks without logging into a site which appears to have gone dead.  Does anyone else have similar thoughts?

But this seems to be the typical opinion

Back when this app used to work, it was unparalleled in its awesomeness. It allowed you to isolate the actual guitar tracks from the actual original recordings of superstar bands like Rush, Dream Theater, Megadeth and many others. It used the actual original multitrack recordings to allow you to listen to the guitarist separately or to play along with the band. All that matters now though, is that starting with an update over a year and a half ago it simply does not work. It will not allow you to log on, it will not allow you to create a new account, it will not allow you to do anything. If you are downloading the free app hoping to buy songs, this is only a minor frustration. For those of us who have spent money – in my case over $100 – it is way more than just that. It is criminal. In any case, don't waste your time on this app. It appears that the company is no longer in business as they do not update, do not add songs, and do not answer customer complaints. I assume they do still collect money though, since they are still selling the songs on the Internet. The computer-based app does seem to work but it is not as fully featured as the iOS app used to be. A real shame. And a real waste of my money.

There is someone here moderating this page. We've seen you delete posts. I've paid a little over $200 on songs from you guys that I can no longer access. This is truly disgraceful. I know someone from Jammit will see this. Please just come out and give your paying customers an update one way or the other. I've been reaching out to journalists and magazines which reviewed Jammit when it was first released, and I'm hoping that at least 2 are working on articles at the moment based off of how the email conversations went. We've given you money. You have a responsibility to your paying customers. We deserve a response (even if that response is "we're going out of business").

I suspect that someone (maybe this is now a solo act?) is trying to milk the last few dollars out of Jammit by manipulating the Facebook page.

I suspect Jammit experienced a high cost burden for ASCAP/BMI Music publishing licensing fees for Copyrighted works

similar fate as Fender G-DEC amps  - with the burned in ROM copyrighted music backing tracks pre-installed in every G-DEC amp became a prohibitive cost burden and non profitable for Fender.

Dear All,

I have been a fan of Jammit since it launched, and I recently wanted to purchase the backing track for "A change of seasons" by Dream Theater, when I found that the website is no longer working...does anybody in the forum have the backing track for the entire song downloaded from Jammit? Let me know, I'd be happy to trade with other DT backing tracks I purchased from them.

thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. I have checked it out and the backing track available there is made through a midi sequencer, I was looking for the actual/real mix without the guitar, such as what Jammit was providing.

thx

I suspect Jammit ran a foul of licensing fees for Copyrighted works

Definitely not the case.  One of Jammits strongest assets was the licensing agreements that were negotiated for using the original multitracks.   The reason the company went dark were manifold.  Mismanagement.  Hubris.  The fiscal and mental meltdown of one of the principals.  It was a great app at one point, but sadly, could not survive with its CEO at the helm.

What happened to G-DEC? I did a quick Google search but didn't find anything.

Fender G-DEC amps were discontinued in 2011.

The Mustang Amps replaced the GDEC amps and cover similar functions

Both use the Fender Fuse Editor app.

The last GDEC III amps have many Artist backing tracks (copywrited work) burned into Internal  ROM and thus Fender had to pay royalty payments to each song's publisher for each amp they sold, which reduced the profit margin.

Fender did nothing wrong , they paid the royalties , but they took a fiscal loss and discontinued the GDEC in favor of applying more resources to expand the more profitable Mustang DSP amp Product line.

Any suggestions on how to download the Jammit tracks I paid for?

I have all the tunes I purchased on my computer still. That's great, because I literally spent hundreds on the Dream Theater stuff..... I feel sorry for the people that have it on there phones/tabs though.... :( I am happy for me though, because I might have had to go and kicked someones arse.....

I have just discovered a new Facebook page called "Tell Jammit To Crammit".   There's over a hundred members, all sharing files and using a newly written Mac app called "Crammit" that lets you export your Jammit files as CD Quality audio, printable PDF scores, and video of the scrolling animated score!  There's also a new website www.jammit.ca with more info an links.  This group seems dedicated to keeping the Jammit material alive and useable, even if the original apps and website no longer functions.   Way cool!

Thanks for sharing

the departure of Jammit was rather upsetting to many people who joined and paid a lot of money for their backing tracks

Sort of...

There is a new group that has written a replacement Mac app for Jammit files that lets you export all the audio tracks as AIFF, WAV, or MP3, spit out the score files as printable PDFs, creates a click track,  and creates an animated video file of the scrolling sheet music.  All these items can then be imported into your Mac or Windows DAW, which in many ways is a huge improvement not the original.  The Facebook group is called "Tell Jammit To Crammit".   There's a growing community there who are maintaining a database of downloadable Jammit files to share for free,  It's pretty wicked.  There's also a new website run by these guys, although it's pretty minimal right now.  At least they have the domain name!   http://www.jammit.ca

For all us Jammit users, there is a cool new site and Facebook group.   Joining the group gives you access to Jammit downloads and the new app lets you export Jammit files into your DAW, print scores, and play videos.  It's better in a lot of ways than the original Jammit app.
